My family wants to go to Aruba this spring for my Uncles birthday, because it is his favorite place in the world. However, I'm having a hard time with this. I went to Aruba two years ago and had a terrible time. I have an extreme phobia and fear or reptiles, and I kept having panic attacks while we were on vacation from seeing them all over the place. I feel if I don't go on the vacation my family will be disappointed with me, but I'm seriously freaking out. Is there any specific hotel or resort that doesn't have the iguanas all over the place?! My husband and I were recently married; already been on our honeymoon, but looking to plan another vacation for September 20-28th. I'm thinking about going to Hawaii ( we were in Aruba on our honeymoon and loved it!). Anyways, we are a young active couple...enjoy relaxing on the beach, but also playing beach volleyball, meeting other young couples, having a few beach-side drinks, or going on on the town in the evenings for a nice meal and some fun. So, we want to go to a resort that meets our taste. Are there any recommendations!? I would prefer to stay in Oahu but if there are some great ones on the other islands, I may reconsider! Resolved Question: Aruba or Cancun vacation?

I am going on vacation with my 19 and 21 year old daughter and son. I have narrowed the locations to Aruba or Cancun. It costs more to travel to Aruba and takes longer and is more difficult than Cancun (originate in Chicago). Hotels are about equal. We would stay at Marriott Resort Palm Beach in Aruba or the JW Marriott Cancun Resort. It looks like the surf in Cancun is superior to Aruba. We are going to stay a week and would like to site see and tour a little while we are on vacation. I am leaning toward Cancun. Does anyone have an opinion to share on this.I am using Marriott award stay for this and the properrty in Cancun looks much nicer than Aruba. Also, I inend to stay mainly in Marriott(thery have nice beach and bars) except to tour Maya artifacts and other notable places. more

The vacation will be my sister and I so Sandals and those couples resorts are not an option. We also want ADULTS ONLY. I want to go somewhere I have never been, so the following locations would be out: Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Mexico.... Although, Mexico is a possibility since I have only been there for one day as an excusion while on a cruise. CRUISES ARE DEFINITELY OUT AS WELL. Resolved Question: Caribbean Vacation/Travel Suggestions for Young Couple? First Timers..?

We're a young couple interested in going to the Caribbean for the first time in July or August, for about a week or so. We're budget concious but are happy spoiling ourselves if the reward is worth the expense. We're not much into the party scene anymore (been there done that, trust me!) so we're looking for something more on the notion of romantic and relaxing with a twist of fun or perhaps extreme sports. I have free flight credits from JetBlue so we're interested in using those and going to somewhere JetBlue flies: Aruba, The Bahamas (Nassau), Dominican Republic (Santiago, Santo Domingo), or Puerto Rico (San Juan, Aguadilla, Ponce). We do drink and can rack up some outstanding bar tabs so an all-inclusive may be a good idea for us but we have no real experience with that either. Any suggestions on where to travel to (island/country)? Or even more specific as to actual hotel/resort? Thank you! more

I am trying to find a little resort/"hideaway", the kind you see on tv and such which is comprised mainly of a small number of secluded individual little huts or something. I am looking for some recommendations on places to vacation in the Caribbean. I know there are a ton of islands to choose from but I would like some recommendations from people that have been there. I am looking for the following: 1. Nice beaches that aren't too crowded (will be going in June of this year) 2. A place that offers other activities besides hanging out at the beach. (i.e. hiking, biking, cultural activities) 3. Something that is geared more towards couples. I have looked at Aruba, St. Lucia and Barbados. Aruba seems a little too 'resort' oriented but the beaches look really nice along with the turquoise water. I am also pondering Belize and wonder if anyone has been there. If you have any hotel recommendations that would be appreciated too. I am thinking about All-Inclusive but have heard some bad things about that. I like the fact that the drinks are included but I don't like the fact that we would be limited to eating at specific places. Thanks! more
