Resolved Question: Puerto Rican Taino Indian Ancestry, a Question?

I would like to know what degree of Taino blood still exists in the Puerto Rican population. I know supposedly no more full-blooded Tainos exist, but some people come close. Examples are Olga Tanon, Jennifer Lopez, Erik Estrada, Chayanne, all who look somewhat Taino. Also I have met Puerto Ricans here in NY with Native features. This one girl I used to work with her parents were Puerto Rican and she has long black hair, slanted eyes, and reddish-brown skin. She says her father is almost 100% Taino. I think it's interesting to see how many survived in Puerto Rico while not so many in Cuba, Dominican Republic, or any other Carribean island except for Aruba. Besides these Puerto Ricans I have seen many more with indigenous features. So my question is what percent of Puerto Ricans are of Taino descent? more

I've been best friends with a girl I met the very DAY she moved here in sixth grade. We are now seniors in high school. Last year, she started hanging out with this boy that I didn't like. He's an asshole. He was very rude to all of her friends, including me. Since she started going out with him, she hasn't paid attention to any of her other friends. She's become a very rude and "fake" person. She spends all her time with him, and thus no time with any of the old friends we used to hang out with. When she got a new phone, she didn't even put my number in it, and didn't ask for it. I found out because I texted her and she answered with "Who is this?" It made me mad, because I've had the same phone number since 8th grade, and she should know it. It bothers me that she didn't care enough to even ask for it. She is supposed to come to Aruba with me at the end of the year, and I don't want her to come. My family paid for her $600 plane ticket to go, because she claimed she had to save for a new car and thus, couldn't go with me. 3 weeks after we paid for her ticket, she bought a new car. I want to tell my mom that I'd rather bring someone else, but she thinks that this girl is the epicenter and amazingness and can do no wrong. She always yells at me because I don't spend time with this girl, but the way I look at it is if she doesn't want anything to do with me, then why should I strive to hang out with her? I cannot talk to her because I can't get her away from her douchebag of a boyfriend. And my mom won't listed if I try to explain, because to her, I'm the one not trying. What should I do? more

My boyfriend and I have been together for two years now. EVERYONE loves him, he is honestly the greatest guy I could have asked for, and my parents approve. However, they keep saying subtle things about getting married. Like; my newborn niece can be my flower girl, ill be done with college, etc....I know they don't want me to get married soon, but we want to. I've known he's the one since I met him. We recently took a trip to Aruba as a family and he borrowed some money from my parents to buy me an engagement ring for "down the road"(or at least thats what he told them). I want to get married this upcoming July, which means we have to get engaged within the next few months. Is there a way that I could talk my parents into supporting our wedding? I have never written on a blog such as this before, but your answers and reflection on the personality traits of the Gemini are pretty accurate. I am a Leo male and my ex-Gemini met two years ago and started a relationship unlike any I have ever been involved with. I was smitten with her smile and her eyes, but very cautious about her sincerity. As a typical Gemini, she was in and out of the relationship, leaving me to lick my wounds each time. Being a lion-heart I chased her down and when I caught her she made it clear that she wanted children and a settled life with me. We moved in together, but unfortunately, I was still hurt and insecure from her former indecisiveness that I did not completely break off my ties with people I had met during our time apart. She found out and (of course) left. After much thought and discussion, we both made the decision that we loved each other enough to put the necessary effort into our relationship without insecurity or hesitation. I asked her to marry me, and she accepted. Living with her was like being with 4 different people, under one roof. Her constant battle with boredom and her insatiable desire for freedom, made it extremely difficult to know or feel if this relationship was of any importance to her…or was it just another one of her many “projects”. I felt so ostracized and lonely under my own roof. Maybe it is a Leo thing, but I was definitely not the king of my domain, and neither did I have a full-time queen. God knows I treated her like one: trips to Aruba, shopping for shoes/purses on my own for her, spending time with her family and friends, making absolute passionate love to her, house shopping etc. Well, she’s gone again and of course I chased. But this time, it was different. The Leo can only take so much of this childishness, as we take commitment and love very seriously. Yes, we had petty arguments but this “leaving the scene” !@#$ is intolerable. We’ve spoken since and basically she has told me that she is conflicted and scared to love me so deeply because I will only hurt her. Communication has been cut off and we are moving on. I guess what I wanted to know is whether this is futile, or another mood swing? I love this girl with all of my heart, otherwise I would never have asked for her hand in marriage. Resolved Question: Daughter's lack of dates worrying me?

I'm going to try and keep it short. I'm not sure if I am overreacting which I am told I usually do, or my daughter is giving me a reason. She is 16yo and to date she has not brought home a boyfriend and she's giving off a vibe that raises a keen sense in me she may be lesbian and I wouldn't know what to do. All of her best friends are boys and I have known them ever since they were six, and they all are very nice. I wish my older daughters (19,20 yo) brought home the same; but never did. She claims they are all her friends and would never be in a relationship with any of them because it would be weird. However there has been about a dozen different girls coming to my house over the past year that I would see a couple of times and then never again and she would claim they were friends too. My older daughters at the table would go over their issues with their boyfriends, whom bother me sometimes, but when they tease my youngest she would claim she has no time between basketball, drama club, and work to be dating... like she's always putting off the subject. Nominally I wouldn't force my daughters to date because I don't know what is out there nowadays; but she shows no interest or anything. The big thing though making me crazy is that I catch her sneaking glances. Whether at the mall or in a restaurant together, and even on vacation recently to Aruba, I notice she looks at girls sometimes as they pass and it irks me. I can't talk to her because she favors my husband and we rarely ever spoke. I'm thinking about searching her room but I'll never hear the end of it if I find something but I would be so upset because she is an adorable, energetic, and smart girl and I wouldn't want something to put a big label over her or a target. So i need a dress for my brothers beach wedding in june. The bride is recommending all the girls to buy solid color dresses, thats just what she wants, kinda weird. I am going to Aruba next week, and I am having trouble finding a bikini for my size chest. I am a size 36D and I really need help. I am 13 years old so I really can not buy anything that has half of my boobs showing because that would be inappropriate, especially because my whole family will be there. So, does anyone know where I can find a bikini for my size that is fit for a teenager? And please don't tell me to look on Victoria's secret because I did and they're all a LITTLE bit too inappropriate for my age. In two weeks, I am going to Aruba for my cousins wedding. We will be going to the beach a lot and I really would like to take off a few pounds before i go. I am not obesse or anything; I just weigh more than I want to and more than my weight should be at my height & age and stuff. And i'm not one of those skinny girls who thinks shes fat & wants to starve herself, because I've been told by my family, friends, and the school nurse that i am a bit over-weight. I know there are ways to lose like 10 pounds in a week and then be able to keep it off. Can someone please tell me how i can loose weight fast and maybe a way to keep it off after that diet & excercise? & If you are going to answer this question with things like "Oh thats not healthy dont do it" and "Thats not possible" please dont bother answering this.
