Travel Agencies Air Fares Questions asked

Resolved Question: how can i make it possible to get an executive class upgrade with air canada?

i ve been in contact with air canada and this is what they told me. the only possibility for me to have an executive class upgrade on a flight if the person who has the certificates travelling on the same flight. I was going to buy the certificates however, they are not going to work coz of that. another reason is that i made a booking through a travel agency so they cant be able to see the fare type. im flying to singapore next week via tokyo with a leg from toronto which will be longest flight i ve been and i don't know what it means to me. i just wanted to travel in style just once and im deaf as well as the ife on that plane which is a boeing 777, with the movies , im sure there wont be subtitles or closed captions for me to enjoy the movies throughout the flight. im getting anxious as well. i know the pilots, travel attendants, and others has a family, pets and home to go back to. ill be fine...i wish i could do something about that upgrade ! lol any takers? more

Resolved Question: Air travel question ?

Guess the "travel" time from JFK (New York) to Perth, Australia if you book it the long route? (answer below)... My wife Dot and I are starting a Home Travel Agency. We are joining a very large outfit that deals with folks like us who want a home business. I used to work for TWA (Trans World Airlines) 25 years. Before they were sold to American. My job was International reservations for flights, tours, and cars. One day I was playing around with the computer and (at the time) found 25 different airfares between New York City and Los Angeles. Reason being a person can naturally fly non-stop or change flights thru many-many different cities (called "connecting" flights). You can also combine 2 different discount fares and fly "back to back" (Let's use a make believe fare for an example) Let's say a normal coach ticket New York to Los Angeles is $500. But, if we combine a New York "discount" $150 route to St. Louis, Mo. (change our own bag's or better yet have a small carry on bag) and pick up a $200 St. Louis to Los Angeles trip. Yea-yea I know some of you are saying, "Hey, blah-blah-blah !!!" OKAY GANG how about the person who flys "EVERYWEEK" ??? Or every 2 weeks? Let's say Mr. Fly-every-week work's that job for 20 years ? Hey kid's... NOW WE'ER TALKING $156,000 OF OUR PRETEND MONEY GOING DOWN THE DRAIN !!!!! All of you can call the airlines and get real money if you want. My point is, I just want to show you folks how to save money. Yes, sometimes fares are around for a short period of time. One time TWA had a $33 special St. Louis to Chicago one way for about a month. Now I'm not supposed to ask for your business here in Yahoo Answers... BUT... I can help a "new" friend with travel information if he or she has an up and coming trip they need help with. My e-mail address is attached to this... what ever it is. All I need is your dates of travel to & from and a list of towns your going to with how much time at each stop. I figure if I can help make your trip a bit better thats half the game won. Your going to find as you call around to different airlines and travel agents (say maybe 10 or 15 or so) your going to feel like you just dug a hole 30' x 50' and 20' deep in your back yard. Some of those agent's can really mess up your head !!!! (Phew-phew !!) >>>> The answer to the question on top is... 39 hours 55 minutes ! As I used to say (almost 95+ times a day) "Thank You for calling TWA, my name is Tom" more

Resolved Question: Is there an insurance agency that will cover my trip should my husband be deployed to Afghanistan?

It's up in the air and it looks like my husband will not be deploying ...however there's about a 20% chance he could. If he does is there a travel insurance company that would refund the price of my air fare? I really want to see my friends as I've been depressed since we got stationed here in NC. I'm from Hawaii and it's too expensive for me to fly home. My friends are coming on a business trip to AL and I could see them for five days. However I do not want to miss my husband's last five days home should he deploy. I would hate to loose the cost of my air fare. I can not book the trip if I don't have a way to recoup my cost should there be a change in my husband's deployment. Any help or ideas? Thanks. more

Voting Question: Is meeting a women from anothing country that I met online alright?

heres the thing I met this women who is from London, She says she looking for a serious relationship that will possiblity lead to marriage. She says she is a fashion designer in the UK but they don't pay her well there. she and I have been chatting on yahoo IM for 3 days now and she says she wants to fly the US to see me but she claims she doesn't have enough money to fly the the US. She ask me if I could raise some money to fly her to the states and send it to her so she may book the flight through her mother's travel agency. I offered to pay the full cost of the airfare and mail her the ticket she refused but she claims she can handle it better in her own country if I send her money. she says things like "I don't have enough for the air fare, how can we work it out?". Resolved Question: Japan package tours?

I had always wanted to go to Japan, but I heard it's very expensive. Is this true? I mean, does anyone here know how much a Japan package tour (a one-week or two-weeks tour) - plus the air fares to and from the Philippines - cost? Further, is there a Philippine travel agency that offers great Japan package tours at an affordable or at least reasonable price? Let's just say the package will be good for 2 adult persons. As for the sites to be visited, a trip to some of Japan's old castles, some onsen (hot springs), and to Akihabara would definitely be great. As for the accommodation, a hotel accommodation is okay, but a ryokan (Japanese Inn) accommodation might be better (I mean, I'm guessing it will come cheaper because it's an inn, right?). So, anyone has an idea? Thanks in advance! Thanks for the responses. I will just add something that I forgot to ask: Do travel packages include airfares already? If not, how much does a flight from Manila-Japan (and vice-versa) cost? Is it better to avail a connecting flight (i.e. is it cheaper?)? I'm sorry if I ask too many questions. Thanks everyone! more

Resolved Question: Travel agencies suck? I have been trying to book my air-ticket and all the travel agents have different fares.

....The difference is not just a few dollars, but almost twice. I am planning to go on a holiday in 2 weeks, but it seems I won't be able to. Is getting a fair deal not possible? Why the heck they all have to be so different? Is getting an air-ticket that damn tough?I used to have a friend who would arrange all the tickets so I never had to do anything. Now that he has moved to another country I am finding it damn irritating to get an air-ticket. These agents are charging so high. I have travelled much economically in the past.I just checked fares at yahoo. They are almost 6 times more than the normal?Yes, I have looked at websites. But I don't have a credit card. more
