Voting Question: I need help Coping with fear of Flying?
Help! I need to travel on Saturday and I have a fear of flying. The strange thing is, even as a baby I was traveling several times a year and have been on flights as long as 12 hours. As a small child, it didnt bother me one bit...and then some where right about 10 years old it started to really get to me. Its not so much that im claustrophobic (hope thts how ya spell it)...its more like im afraid of something catastrophic happening...and the fact that im so far up in the air and going so fast...well, there's nothing i can do to save myself. I have no control, and that scares me. I wonder about the integrity of the safety checks...and the if the pilot is young and inexperienced. So, now its before the flight and im already having nightmares...my heart races when i think about it...and im just really down and nervous. I feel like im 5 days...4 days...3 days...etc. down to soemthing that could end my life. i know that sounds wierd...but i just dont trust flying. when im on the plane, im usually pretty jumpy. i also cry during take off and hyperventilate a bit too. (so embarassing for my fiance or coworkes i have to travel with) Turbulence i think is the worst for me...and i have heard that its totally normal and the physics of it really do make sense to me, but just the feeling of moving around that much makes my tummy turn in knots. well...i could definitely go on and on about this, but i think ya'll get the gist of it. I'm going on a very special vacation this weekend and would like to be happy about it, and not like im heading towards this doomed flight. oh yea - and recent media doesnt help either...they are all about tthe hype and ratings i know, but i still hate seeing/hearing about that stuff. if anyone out there can please help me with this i'd be so greatful...i dont want to be stuck cramming xanax or avoiding fun trips because of my fears. moreResolved Question: Need tips on extremly long air travel with infants. Long travel......... flying to sydney from nsw @2hrs, to catch international flight to san francisco @14.5 hrs. few hours in airport then 4.5hrs to chicago, a few hours in airport then 1.5hrs to toronto canada. Then finally about a 2 hour drive to our destination. 2 adults with kids. Want to make kids as comfortable as possible. What to bring???? This is going to be an exhausting journey, but well worth it! Wish us luck. Thanks moreResolved Question: Is a flight attendant just a waitress in the air? Is there more to it?
I am currently applying for flight attendant postions on some major commercial airlines. What attracted me most of course was the chance to travel around the world and work whilst doing it, There are downsides im sure like jetlag and irregular hours. Who thinks it is just a "waitress in the air" job? Is there more to it? I want to travel the London-Tokyo route as I am half Japanese and half English. Do you work as a flight attendant? Do you like it? Any downsides? Does anyone work London-Okyo? Any advice much appreciated! Thank you. Happy flying!!!!! moreTop Happy Hour For Air Flight Travel Links
