Resolved Question: Can I fly to other countries such as the states by Cargo or Airfreight?
I remember reading somewhere that there is a website where you can actually book to fly by cargo or airfreight instead of commercially. I just wondered if this was still possible? Or is there a cheaper way to travel by air? (To the USA?). moreResolved Question: Anyone travel alot by plane?

Slowly planning an overseas trip with 2 girlfriends for 2011 - around the July/August/September period as we want to include the Edinburgh Tattoo. Has anyone flown Air Asia? I've heard good things, but wondered if it was too cheap and nasty?? Does anyone have any good website for travelling tips? I already use Trip Advisor to check out hotel reviews Whats the cheapest and easiest way to contact family whilst over there? Also, what's the best way to hook up to an internet connection to check emails etc? I'm looking at getting a little notebook (laptop) closer to the time of travel to take over there (know I need to take it on the plane and remove battery for going through check in/security etc). Any recommendations for a good notebook?? Also tips for travelling with it? Can anyone recommend accommodation they know of that do Triple Rooms or have 3 single beds? Not fussed how cheap it is - happy to economise here! Can't seem to find a search-able accommodation site where I can search by the number of beds per room - if you know of one that would be great!! Have looked at Travelodge which have great prices starting at 19 pounds per night but they don't seem to have triple rooms/sleep 3 separately, so we'd need to book 2 rooms. Not sure that it makes it a cheap option necessarily! Does anyone know any other cheap hotels/chains? I know there's a lot located in service centre places just off the highways - eg has accommodation, food, petrol stations Money saving ideas, and tips for travelling in the UK etc would also be very much appreciated. Last time we shopped at Tesco and made packed lunches so that saved a little. General international travel tips welcome too!!! thanks!!!! moreResolved Question: How much money do I need to bring to Thailand?
So I am going to Thailand for 3 months and would like to know how much money to bring. Accommodations: I am a recent college graduate so I am used to living in non-air-conditioned dorms. That being said I can definitely deal with concrete walled fan rooms. My only stipulation is I don't want to stay in dorm style buildings. Meaning I don't want to share bunk-beds or a room with 10 other 20 somethings. I did it in Spain and nothing is more annoying than dealing with drunk frat boys and their skanks. I'm going to need a home base I can call my own. On the other side Staying in a fan room for 2 months could get old so throw in some cheap AC rooms when needed and thats all I need. Travel: Lots of it. I'm spending two weeks in Bangkok then two weeks in Pattaya then heading off to the Islands. Probably hoping between 3-4 Islands, then moving to the Andaman Sea to island hop for awhile then back to Bangkok to fly home. I don't have a set plan yet (trying to see how much money traveling will cost first). But lets say I want to have enough to travel where I want to go. No or I can't aren't things I'm willing to say on this trip. Shopping: I have friends and family at home that I'm going to be away from over Christmas and Birthdays. They all want gifts so I want to send them some things home. I know posting something can get expensive so factor that in. Other than that I love Thai culture and want to get some things for myself. Again I won't be visiting the markets every day but over the months I figure I'll run into some things I would want to get. Food: Not picky but over two months I'm going to have to vary myself from the street stalls sometimes. How much for 1-2 meals a day + water bottles and such? Partying: I like it. I like to drink and go out. I like girls and I like meeting people and being social. I don't intend to get drunk every night but I can't visit Pattaya and Bangkok and not get my drink on sometimes. So how much should I factor in to not have to strict a budget that if some new found friends go on a week long bender I can join. Extras: Again, this is a gift to myself before grad school, so I'm going to want to do some things for me. Massages, muy thai classes, and tattoos. On-top of whatever else I stumble upon. All that being said, I am going to be on a budget. So I realize that I can't be eating at grand places, going out shopping for hours on end, getting a massage, going out to bars, then hoping on a train to another place every day. I am willing to skimp and "backpack", but I don't want to hate my trip. I'm going to be in grad/medical school for the next 6 years of my life, so this is kinda my last gift to myself, before all of that. Travel while you're young and all that. So just factor in that I am a young guy on a budget that wants to have a good time, and a great experience, but is also not picky and has spent enough nights sleeping on streets and making month long trips staying in my two door car, to be able to rough it. Thank you for any and all help. moreResolved Question: any tips or tricks to travel to FIJI on a budget?

I am looking to buy a round-trip plane ticket to India for late May to early July. I've been keeping an eye on prices and could potentially buy now, but I'm doing this with a friend. Her family (which is from India and travels there frequently) insists that it is cheaper to buy the tickets two months before departure instead of, say...now. The idea is that prices go up for a bit but then come back down. My general understanding of ticket prices is of course that they only go up, but could it be that they will go down? Her dad refuses to buy tickets so early, but I feel I should if they are going to keep going up. However it would be ideal to buy tickets together. So should I wait so long to purchase my ticket? Do prices for tickets to India go down at certain times before a departure? We would be flying Air India. moreResolved Question: need help with cheap air tickets?

I had a dream that my brother got his license and was driving our family car. We were going to the mall, when my brother crashed outside the Air Force Recruiting Office. Well, somehow, he managed to crash into the Recruiting Center without hurting anyone, but knocked out all of the glass walls that had the Air Force logo on them, most of them with only the center knocked out. He was threatened that the MP would come and arrest him and my mother came up to get us. In the dream, we were both had supernatural powers. My brother had the ability to time travel and his emotions caused his powers to act up, transporting us back about 20 years into the past. Going to the past somehow screwed up my budding powers to where I shed glass, and it hurt me to do so. I was shedding glass on my arm and inside my nose. My mother's maternal insticts, thank God (even though I hate her in real life and she has none), knew that we were her kids when we told her. However, we had a famous actor for a father (the guy who played Bill on Kill Bill). Well, I'm gay, and my first lover was in the car. My family doesn't know I'm gay, though. We went to a hospital to find out how I could stop shedding glass and there was another psychic woman in the library. We asked her and she was being tracked by psychic killers. She was walking with me and there was a rack on a wall reading "Spiritual Energy" with cheap metallic logos and little designs. I told her I was really interested in learning about that (in real life, I'm clairsentent). Then a man walks by me and asks me which one I liked best. There were many, but there was this one-of-a-kind one that seemed to pulse energy. I chose that and he tried to kill me. My family had went to the car and I had disabled the man usuing telepathy, a power I used to have control over. After a chase, I somehow was thrown out of the car and had to run down an alleyway to meet them on the block over. There were 2 cars chasing me, and shooting with automatic rifles. I turned around and mentally slammed the cars into an abandoned building, causing it to collapse (somehow, this event seemed significant in my dream). I met back up with my family and we went to my grandmother's house. To get up to it, we had to climb up stairs made of flowers (and not unrealistically so). Just before we got to her house, it was surrounded by dirt, then wooden stairs to get up to it. We knocked on the door and she told us to go wash and that she'd have us for supper. We told her we needed to tell her and her husband something important. (My biological grandfather "Big" Rudy was there, though I didn't feel that a significant part of the dream, though I never met nor dreamed of him). After that the dream ended. The main things I want to know, is what shedding glass means, what was the significance of the building collapsing, and what the Air Force logos mean? *I'm signing on with them. It's been a lifelong goal to join the military, though I origionally wanted Army. moreResolved Question: Burning question on aircraft saftey..?
Now my friend here is a qantas enginer..he is responsible for every use by date and wear and tear of every conciviable part of the plane... I put foward to him why does the aircraft industry, not just build a saftey capsule that can float and is self sufficent on pressured oxygen and can act like a bouncing ball as to not get lodged or break up on landing or atmospheric turbulance such as ,hurricanes and lighting and hail.. with a parachute device that can be deployed for a guided landing. I realize the main objective for airlines is to get as many bums on seats as cheap and safley ,as possible on any given day,and to derive asubsatntial profit for that practice 365 days a year.. BUT surley for those who say it would not be viable to build or sustain or be profitable as on going bussines concern..I SAY to them there material to build such saftey device is there , these days the exco skeleton of plane would be cheaper to produce as the main expense would be concentrated with in the capsule,,and other saftey feature would be passengers would fly seperatley from cargo and and passengers would only carry an over nite bag with them and obtain clothes via the sale of main ticket at the destination of any airport .and on return these close can be put foward on cargo planes.making it the priority for the capsules to be free of any clutter other than the human body and essential supplys ,such as fisrt aid and survival packs..My friend supprised me and he sai amzingly that was the first question i asked my self,as maintance engnieer,,,and he was answered. then many people would have no job... well I KNOW ONE THING jobs can be re- created...insurances can charge more on ur saftey rather than ur demise.we have the means of the super higway of comunication to advertise ..do bussines from a stroke of a finger and not depend others to get things done for us...no long is there a comuincation interfernce with the airwaves ..to endanger lives and the flying of the airplane in a saftey mode.. THE TRUTH is that the current shape and idea of flying is very very very old the whole concept has to be re desingned and re calabrated not as a sausge with jets or properlers.but as a self genrated disk or oval shaped derigiable...and another thing.... it seems the only education in piloting the skys is the art of the BENELI effect ..surley there must be other ways of piloting space and atmosheric presures..? so i would like to know what ur views on this is... are we going to ply suasgages for the next 50 years or procced to a new concept of air travel and its saftey for its passangers....? moreResolved Question: How to travel from Arcata, CA to San Jose once a month?

I have been clogging the Italy forum for weeks now and for that, I sincerely apologize. I am very torn between studying abroad in Rome and Florence, Italy. I have two huge concerns: 1) Cost - both programs are approximately $15,000 ... i have about $6,000 in financial aid. Banks allow you to take out an educational loan for the amount up to the total cost of the program. So my thought process is 15k - 6k= 9k (so the program will really only be costing me 9k because of financial aid) but, i can continue to borrow 15k so I have 5/6k for living expenses, meals etc. - I need to know which city is more expensive in terms of living expenses! Since this is not a vacation (I will be living there for approximately 5 months) I don't think I will feel the need to splurge on one huge night out because I will have opportunities to go out all of the time. But I do need to know which city has more expensive food, night life, attractions, etc. 2) Travel opportunities - This means so much to me I would almost set this above cost. I was thinking of purchasing the Eurail Global Pass (the 3 month one) and traveling throughout Europe on the weekends. Now, most destinations I would want to reach (Ireland, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona) are about a day's worth of travel away from Rome and Florence. So I was wondering if I could get any opinions on the Eurail pass vs. cheap airlines like Ryan Air and Easyjet Overall ... which city will allow me to have a better experience based on these two factors? ps- is the 3 month eurail pass worth if for me living there for 4/5 months (i will probably only be able to travel on weekends) moreResolved Question: How can I travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh?
I am a student from China and I will further my study at the University of Edinburgh. These days, I start to book the air ticket. The price of the ticket from Beijing to Edinburgh is over 8900 yuan(appoximately 890 pound) while the price of the ticket from beijing to Glasgow is only 4500 yuan(450 pound). So, I want to know if it is convient to travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I know it is only 1h30min's to drive there. The information you provide will be very helpful. The best answer would content the following element. 1, How to get there. 2, Cheap or not, compared to the air ticket.(I mean, does it worth for me to book the latter ticket?) 3, Is it convient to travel from the ED to GLA? Thanks very much!!!Thanks. I forgot to mention that, is it far away to take bus from the airport to the railway station in GLA? I will take many luggages along with me...These things will be pretty heavy! Thanks very much! People here are pretty nice! moreResolved Question: Florida legal question about custody / visitation?
Florida legal question about custody /visitation? My children are 17 and 15 in a few days. All there life I have had custody and their dad has had supervised visits only. I let them go to stay with his mother in Florida for Three weeks to visit both grama and him. Her mostly travels for his job and they are with grandma, step mom. They are not in any dangerous with him now because they are mature enough to call home,911 or whatever they need to do to be safe and he knows it. The danger was his lack of patience and striking out when they were small and energetic. A court order allowed a phone call a day all their lives. So Now that they are getting older and want to spend time with him I think it's important to allow it with in limits. Anyway, they are supposed to be home the 15th. he now tells me he doesn't know when he wants to bring them home. He s trying to talk them into staying, they want to come home on the 15th. they are home sick and have friends ,school, senior year..a life here and they just miss their mom. I want to know if there is a legal reason he is trying so hard to keep them past 30 days ? after the conversation we just had about bringing them home he say s air travel is cheaper later which means I would be agreeing to 31 days of staying with him. My kids send me cell pix everyday and today they look miserable. something doesn't feel right. Could he try to get custody by having them 30 days in Florida and yes,he is selfish enough to screw up there education and scholarships like that to get out of child support.the custody papers say supervised visits only. there are NO visits for any length of time scheduled. I agreed to this because they have an awesome grandma and don't even know her. they need some kind of relationship with dad but he is dangerous if he had any real power in their life. total control freak. moreResolved Question: Rome versus Florence, study abroad (cost, travel opportunities), please help! 10 pts!?

I'm new to travel writing, but I've recently written my first travel story. Can anyone, especially writers, give me some comments on my writing so I can improve it, or do better the next time I write? Thanks Cave Life Experience in Cappadocia, Central Turkey ‘Cappadocia is definitely the part of Turkey I will never forget,’ says a tourist who is just back from her magical trip in Central Turkey. If you’re bored of the busy city scenes of Istanbul, you may probably want to escape to the less touristy Cappadocia. To say that Cappadocia is beautiful is definitely an understatement. It is a region of magnificent ‘fairy chimney’ rock formations and mysterious underground cities. Don’t miss: Stay in town Goreme. Then take a day tour to explore nearby areas. Don’t take the Cappadocia tour, since most places you can go by yourself. Take the Ihlara tour instead, to explore more of the region. Most Ihlara tour will take you to the Goreme panorama where you can see the spectacular view of Cappadocia, the Ihlara Valley and the biggest underground city Derinkuyu where you can explore as much as 55 meters underground. For those who want something more special than climbing mountains or going underground, try a hot-air balloon tour. If you are thinking of something romantic like the two of you going high up in the sky, you will probably get quite disappointed. In one balloon there are about 25 people. Up in the air, there can be as many as 30 balloons at the same time. Busy traffic! At night, instead of having a regular dinner in the restaurants, try the Turkish Night. You can just sit back and enjoy the traditional Turkish dance while having dinner (included in the price). If you are lucky enough you can even be part of the show and dance with the belly dancer! There are overnight buses that run daily from Istanbul to Cappadocia. They leave in the evening, so you can save the hotel rate for a night. However, if 11 hours is way too much for you, you can also take a flight from Istanbul, which takes about one hour. In Cappadocia, one thing you will find very special is the accommodation. There is no Hilton or Sheraton, but lots of cave hotels, or more exactly, pensions. There is an accommodation office at the bus station, but you can actually walk around to check out the pensions yourself. They are quite close to each other, and are very easy to find. Spending nights in a cave is a very special experience, and it is cheap! Cave rooms are generally quite cheap in town Goreme, and they have very good services! moreResolved Question: where can I get cheap airfare?

Also is there a website that shows what is allowed in luggages. moreResolved Question: How much money will I need to travel a significant part of Europe while studying abroad in Rome?
I hope to study abroad in Rome from January 2011-May/June 2011 ... My parents are paying for tuition, room/board, and necessary expenses such as food. I want to save up a substantial amount of spending money in order to save my parents some trouble. Of course I plan on traveling on the weekends and during breaks ... I was wondering how much spending money I should save in order to afford to visit these countries/cities: Naples, Milan, Sicily, Venice, Florence (within Itay) Germany (Berlin & Munich) Ireland (Dublin) England (London) Czech Republic (Prague) Switzerland (Genova) Vatican City Greece France (Paris, Cannes, Nice) Spain (Madrid, Barcelona) Monaco (Monte Carlo) & hopefully some of eastern europe as well. Please keep in mind that I am willing to buy a train pass and fly for very cheap (ryan air, or other similiarly cheap airlines) most of these trips will be weekend trips and I am more than willing to stay in hostels. Any kind of ballpark estimate would be nice!1,000! thank you for your insight! i was planning on having to bring around 3k purely for travel expenses! has anyone had any experience with the eurail pass? and if so, is it worth it? moreResolved Question: i want to buy online cheap tickets to India?
i am currently in delaware city USA, i want to visit my granny in india. can somebody suggest me any travel agent who can give me best air fare deal? moreResolved Question: Why do people keep asking the same 'how to buy air ticket' questions?
I have been answering questions on this forum for years, and I keep seeing the same really stupid question over and over... "Where can I get a ticket from xxx to xxx " "How to get to London" (and not giving us clues as to where you're starting from) "Cheap tickets?" "Best websites" Do Yahoo Answers! people only ask questions? Do they ever read resolved questions to find out if their answers have already been answered? Don't Yahoo Answers! people ever figure it out for themselves that they might get better answers if they do a search under their browers... like "Travel websites", "Cheap fares".. than here on Yahoo Answers? Its just mind boggling the kind of questions that get asked over and over. moreResolved Question: Moving from Morgantown, WV to San Antonio, TX?
OK, so I have a lease in Morgantown, WV that's going to be up at the end of May 2011, and I've decided several months ago I want to move to San Antonio, TX... I was down there several months ago on vacation and really liked it. Plus, when I compared the Cost of Living, several sites had San Antonio cheaper than Morgantown (I couldn't believe it!) Anyway, the only possessions I have worth taking are my laptop, iPhone, clothes and linens, a box of DVDs, a small box of books, an air mattress (which I have a feeling will come in handy at first), a TV, DVD player, PS2, and a few other small (yet sentimental) possessions. Everything is going into my car (an 01 4 dr Saturn SL1) My questions are... How soon should I look for an apartment/job? I was thinking 6 months in advance, start apartment hunting by making phone calls and taking a week off to go down there and check them out... and about 1-3 months in advance of job hunting. I don't mind working odd jobs at first. How much should I save? Since I am "traveling light", I plan on saving anywhere from $3K-$5K (target $4K) to move... you know, in case I can't find a job when I first get there (what an economy! woo!) Any/all advice you all can provide me would be MUCH MUCH appreciated. I will be glad to clarify/follow-up as needed. moreResolved Question: where can I find cheap air tickets from SFO to MGA?

the reason i ask this is 1300 dollars is 650 pounds which is a lot cheaper then the 1100 pound price tag to buy it in england i'm thinking about doing it in a couple of years time because if i travel over there spending about say 200-300 on the flight i would then attend the burning man festival which would be amazing, so depending on the tax i would get a laptop a heck of a lot of photos and a really good memory of a festival for the same price as the laptop would be over here. Thanks Btw Burning man = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4NF8JPXtnU !!! moreResolved Question: where can i get the cheapest prices on group airfare and hotel for 8-10 ppl?

i'm in Southeast Asia now. A lot of the food here is actually healthy, but I end up eating at McDonalds because it has wifi, air conditioning, and still reasonable prices. I feel really guilty for this because I didn't eat at McDonald's before I came here and I think the local food tastes great also.seagull-i actually use the internet for my work a lot. so I work at places with wifi a lot. If I don't have air conditioning I'll need to take several showers a day...and I'll have tons of clothes to wash also. moreTop Cheapest Air Travel Links
