Hi, I am travelling to South America in 4 weeks and as I am coming out of being a full time student I will be doing it on the cheap. I already have accomodation paid for, and also my air tickets. My girlfriend just won a 3 day 2 night trip to Freeport, Bahamas. Airfare is included for 1 person. Reading through the initial paperwork, another airline ticket MUST be booked through the same travel agency. They want an $89 processing fee before they tell you anything. Is this a scam? Has anyone ever dealt with this company? It would be nice if this was truly a genuine free trip, but my gut instinct is that its a scam. Somebody has to be making money. We don't have a lot of extra money to through at a vacation, but if its cheap enough it would be great to have actually won a trip. Seems to me that all they bought for us is 2 nights in hotel and an air ticket. How much is taht worth, versus booking an all inclusive? Thanks in advance more

I'm planning a trip out to Austin, TX for a Music Conference that goes from March 15th to March 21st. I'm planning to arrive there on March 14th & plan to leave (or get back here to NYC) on March 21st (I'm not planning to go to the last event of the conference.). I've checked Priceline, Travelocity, etc. Most of them have expensive prices like $689 round trip on either Priceline or Travelocity (I don't remember which one.). Although, when I went to Kayak.com I saw $220 Airfare & couldn't believe what I was seeing (I chose Hotwire & some other Low Fare engine to compare each other to that Kayak.com has you do.). Now, I'm assuming the Air Fare is Actually $440 WITHOUT the Hotel?? Right? I mean, last yr. I went to Nashville (late July) & I paid $467 from Orbitz.com, but wasn't aware that even though I was checking under the Lowest Fares under the "Flight & Hotel" Category I thought $467 INCLUDED the Hotel Stay (Duhhh...etc.). Heey Well... Im 15 now. But high school in the UK finishes in 1 and a half years time and me and my friends are planning to travel to Italy in the summer holidays to feel the freedom and relax before the start of 6 form (otherwise known as college. yr 12 and 13). Well, I am half-italian and my family still has an empty house over there and we could camp out in it. We would spend our own money and live on pizzas (that are cheap and delicious) and random stuff. We would only go for.. ten days? By then one of us could have a license (would they let a teenager rent a car?) and we could go out to lake garda and stuff. We would be a group of six girls.. mature but a little wild lol.. is it fine to do this? And how much money would we need? (We would get tickets with Ryan-air and fly over... if not we can drive over with a minivan lmao!) My friend and I will be in Malaysia for about three days. He has an unfortunate fear of travelling by water (e.g. ferry, speedboat), so we'll have to go to beaches using some other mode of transport. Are there beaches in Langkawi/Pahang/Penang which can be accessed directly by road or air? (we're on a somewhat tight budget so flying is an option only if the tickets are quite cheap, say around 100-120 dollars for a round trip). Hi, I am in the process of booking my local flights in South America for my holiday in March and I can't get over how expensive travel is in South America, its over $350usd just to get a flight from Lima to Guayaquil (a short flight) and was going to cost me $500usd+ from Argentina to Ecuador. I have shopped around and seen these are the going rates. Back to my question - Are these rates because of the lower quantity of people flying in ratio to the populations of these countries? My theory on these prices is the more proportional people fly in richer countries.. the more competition there hence cheaper airfares. I am from New Zealand and Australia and my return ticket to South America is almost the same as a ticket from Argentina to Ecuador (and that's only one way too!)... I know in the countries I've travelled (Europe, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Asia).. air travel is cheap comparatively. I know this is a silly question.. but being a pilot this interests me and but I would love to hear some other thoughts. Thanks, Jason. more

I have a month to hitch-hick anywhere in the world, and be back to school on Jan 11th. I figured that if it was taking to long to get back I could just fly back. But I live in Michigan's upper peninsula, and air fairs here are up the wall. I'm sure in a months time, I could get just about anywhere, but getting there and back; well I don't want to miss the first day of school, and that might be pushing my luck. If I could get to Canada, or Mexico, would flying be cheaper there? Is there a better place to fly into that is within 1,000 miles of michigan, like Chicago, New York, Milwaukee, etc... I hear traveling in Europe and Africa are really cheep, Would a plane ticket over there from Guatemala be a lot cheaper than from here? I think riding to Guatemala fun anyways. Airline travel class People travel different places around the globe every year by air and in different reservation class. When passengers start to plan their journey they have to buy airline tickets, but when passengers are booking their airline tickets the agents never explain the difference. So it is very important to understand different class of travel through air in order to take the advantage. There are three different class of reservation which are Economy class, Business class and First class. First of all, Economy class which is also called as coach class. The fares are cheaper but have more restrictions. The seats are usually like train seats, sometime it comes with fold out tray for food or with music player. The quality of the food varies depending on various factors. Though it offers the cheapest fares and comes with much more restrictions still it is very popular among middle class people who don’t have more money to spend. Further more, Business class also known as executive class or upper class. Business class is a high quality second tier travel class. Mostly people from big corporations prefer travelling through this class. The seats are much bigger and can recline up to 160 degree. There is an inbuilt LCD TV for movies and sometime it comes with an internet connection. The food is of high quality and sometime passengers can order their preferred meal. Business class doesn’t have restrictions like economy class. If a passenger decides to cancel their journey they can get the whole amount back. This class of travel is mostly famous and is also getting popular in leisure travel. Finally, First class is a luxury travel class which is much better then business class. Few of the airlines offer this class of travel because of limited amount of seats located in front of the aircraft. The seats are reclining with more leg room. Sometime passengers have their own cabin with fully furnished workstations and TV for entertainment. The food is same as business class but it comes with other goodies like travelling kit, shaving kit, and neck pillow or blanket. First class passengers get to board the aircraft before business or economy class passengers and when the journey is completed they get limousine car ride to their destination. First class travel is mostly preferred by politicians, sportsman and actors who can afford to spend $10,000 on a ticket. People are traveling more then every before around the globe in different class. So next times when you travel make sure you check class of travel airline has to offer. This will help you to decide between different class of travel and it will save you time and money more

Resolved Question: Has anyone flown Business Class AIR TRAN to VEGAS from either Milwaukee or Atlanta?

THIS IS A BIT LONG READ IF YOU HAVE TIME: Do you think that we'd be able to get a business class seat if we don't buy it way ahead of time but just try to upgrade exactly 24 hours online (Air Tran's rule) before the flight takes off. This is my problem. We received two free tickets for a trip and we have to fly air tran, but my husband is sort of a bigger guy, (think football player type) and we need a bigger seat for him. I hate for him to have to squeeze into those tiny air tran coach seats. Anyway I've seen Business class on Air tran and that would work fine and we could enjoy a trip to Vegas then. But the tickets are only good for coach and then the only thing we can do is buy the upgrade to Business class for about $99 each way which we can afford. (NOTE: But we can't afford an entire new ticket in Business class since that's 1,000 bucks and they won't let us use our coach ticket towards the more expensive Business class ticket.) Anyway the people on the 800 line said the only way to do it is to wait till 24 hours before the flights to try to get a 99 dollar ugrade to Business class online but it is "first come first serve" and if people pre-paid for the expensive Business class seats at $1,000 the 12 seats could be sold out totally I guess too, sooooo,,,, now I'm worried we'll have this huge trip planned , hotels etc.,and at the last day before have to cancel it and lose my free tickets since my husband might not fit in the little seats and they might force us to pay for an entire last minute extra seat for my husband which we couldn't really afford at $500 coach either,and Business class would be sold out. So my real question is: how likely do you think a flight from Milwaukee to Vegas or Atlanta to Vegas (or Vegas to Atlanta, or Vegas to Milwaukee back again) would be sold out PRIOR to the 24 hour restriction? The agents said there's no way to really know, but that usually business class people know it's cheaper to just wait to the 24 hours before and then do it online. What do you think from all your business traveling.Thanks if you know....ALSO is there a time of week or a certain month that a flight most likely wouldn't be full compared to other times or months to vegas? Or nowadays are almost ALL flights filled to the max to Vegas?ALLUKCAT, THANKS SO MUCH!!!! more

I'll be applying for the EEA family permit to the UK very soon. I'm an American here in Dallas, my husband is a German working/living in London. I'm a little skeptic..Just how difficult/easy is it to obtain a family permit?! First: When I send in my application w/supporting documents (original birth cert, original passport)- do I need to send my husbands original documents as well? Even though he already lives in the UK? Second: My husband has a job and can support us no questions asked, but our savings are not very high- is that something to worry about? I already have a job lined up for me once I arrive. We have an address in London and with us both working, it shouldn't be a problem at all right? Third: We have been together well over a year and have spent time traveling back and forth to one another.. married in September. Would the UK border possibly look at this as a "marriage of convenience"..? Since we have never lived together or the short time? We have lots of evidence.. photos, videos, emails, plane tickets, marriage certificate etc. I would really appreciate some advice or hear experiences. I tend to worry and I'm missing my husband so incredibly much. It is definitely hard being so far apart..emotionally and physically. Would like to see Turks and Caicos but don't know if there is a good 4 night cruise from Miami that goes there. I'm looking to travel by boat so I can have the experience that doesn't have to be long like a cruise but shorter than a flight. I've heard of the air courier services where you sign for a package when you land and in exchange you get a really cheap ticket or free travel. Is there anything like this for ship travel? Are there any websites to look at or where to obtain more info. Is it possible to work on the ship at all in exchange for a free ride or discounted one? Is there a website or forum that lists people with boats/ships willing to except passengers either for work or reduced fare or just because they are going this direction and you can board? My mom was game before she planned a vacation which I DON'T WANT TO GO ON. IT IS TOO EARLY AFTER MY BIRTHDAY. :( I WANT TO STAY HOME. We are going to Willamsburg VA and Busch gardens and Water Country. I'd rather stay and live the summer up with my friends. My mom blew 1700 on this dumb trip. For the rooms, tickets, and gas all together. Seems like she just forgot about my birthday. It's two weeks away and she hasn't said a word about it. I want to say I hate her, but I can't. Anyway, what I've BEEN wanting for like two years is my own laptop. I'm a person who travels-a LOT. I want a macbook pro(not air cause it looks like it breaks easily, it's way too tiny and no cd rom) but as we all know, mac's are the complete opposite of cheap. But I love Mac, and I put pre-install Iwork and Mobile Me on it. So it ended up being $1509.00. Where in the heck would my mom and dad get 1509.00? My dad's a long shorman so he makes like 400-500 a week and he didn't pay for the trip with his money my mom paid with hers, so he should have plenty. But I'm afraid to ask. I feel like I deserve it. I have straight A's, won the basketball tournament, have good behavior, I mean, I think I deserve it. C'mon.To JIM She just threw this together in the last few days so she hasn't been 'dreaming' of it..and how would you feel if your mother just ignored your birthday? LONG but need advice, please! I moved to Italy last year for 3 months for a nanny job and it was great. I was there from OCT-JAN.I'm canadian. I missed it so much that I got a holiday working visa that was valid from APR-OCT. I've spent 4 months living off my savings and now when I return home in October, have to replenish it all. I always have a job at home cos my parents own a restaurant. But I want to return to Italy! I know I can't keep going back and forth forever but I figure if I can work half the year and vacation half the year, why not? Problem is, my folks have the place for sale and could sell any day so I know after my next 'vacation' I won't be able to go back. I'll be 27 and broke with no savings. I am only allowed back into Italy for another 3 mnths (the working visa is only valid once in a lifetime) unless I go to school. I'm actually thinking of paying 3 grand for a language course just to stay 6 months instead of 3. I could maybe find work here as a babysitter or in the open air market but I have no desire of having a desk job, and am not bilingual anyway. I make jewelry and am a 'writer'. I get articles published in magazines here and there but nothing substantial. I'm trying to get my book published but who knows how long that could take. Anyway when I buy my ticket to return to Canada it has to be return since it's actually 1/2 price, go figure. My parents are Italian so I am waiting for my Italian passport so I can travel & work throughout Europe freely but that could take up to two years! I know if I just go home and "wait" I'll get comfortable and never come back. Also, my great apt here is very cheap and the landlord said if I come back I can have it again but I told him I'd be back for a year... not for 3 months. The price I pay for a studio is what most people pay for a single room in a house with 4 other people. My options are : a) Come back for 3 months from JUNE-SEPT, and not need a visa but likely not get my cheap apt, back for such a short time. b) Come back for 6 months from JUNE-DEC, and need a student visa and pay 3 grand for classes c) Don't come back and just focus on my life in Canada... d) Go somewhere else like Australia, and have a similar 'work & travel' experience...even thought my heart & soul is in Italylol the likely hood of me marrying an Italian is ZERO. also, I HAVE to buy a return ticket to come back in june.. i so 3 months or 6 mnths is the q i guess. more

Im movin back to the united states from germany here in a couple weeks. ive been here since feb. when i came here i had only 2 suite cases. but as everyone know u accompolate stuff as time goes on. i am aware of the german '2 piece concept' meaning ur allowed 2 take 2 bags with u under 32kg ( 70 LBS). but i know for a fact i have more then that. sooo i thought ok ill get another bag. and according to airberlin ( airline i take to NYC) excess baggage 32kg and under cost an extra 25€ ( close to $25). but see i am traveling to SF. soo when i arrive in NYC i have to go thru costums, get my luggage check in at a ticket counter to get my next flight with virigin america.... im wondering if anybody had this problem. and whatr would be the cheapest way to get my stuff back home to reno ... i figured shipping thru mail might be better but it looks pretty expensive....and does anyone know the flt regulations with air berlin and virgin america... let me know more

Alright, so I'm planning a "backpacking" excursion over to Europe for my wife and I, and so far everything has been planned out quite well. I'm on the final leg of the journey (Rome, Italy) and have hit a roadblock concerning the flight back to North America. From what I have found, it is just too expensive for us to fly back to North America from Rome (over $1000 a ticket), and after looking through many different flight searches (Kayak, Martinair, Fly Global Span, Canadian Affair, Thomas Cook, Air Transat, Air India, Icelandair, etc.) I have yet to find a more satisfactory price. Getting to my question(s) however, I was wondering if anyone was able to locate or point me towards cheap flight tickets leaving from Europe/UK (any city really) to North America (preferably Toronto) around the 9th of August? Any information from people who have traveled before, have an interest in travel, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Hi. I am seeing my favorite group in a concert an the options I have is either Chicago or Orlando because the air tickets are cheaper. Now, as I am not a US resident one of my favorite things about going to the US is to do some shopping so this will be a travel both for the concert and shopping. I am not looking for upscale stores (Gucci, Prada or the like) but just regular shopping malls, Best Buy, TJMAXX, Walmart and the like. Staying in downtown Chicago is very expensive for the hotel prices. For my kind of shopping would I have more options in Orlando or in Chicago. Is going to Schaumburg, IL or any place near downtown Chicago is really an option where I could find more stores and shopping options than in Orlando and better bargains, VARIETY, and prices?
