Cancun Air Travel Questions asked

Open Question: Can I request my luggage at a short stop over in cancun?

I will be traveling from north Mexico to Havana Cuba this summer, there is a short stop over in Cancun. On the return journey, I would like to leave the connecting flight and begin traveling from Cancun. The airline (air Mexicana) has apparently said I can't get my luggage, but am I entitled to request it? more

Resolved Question: Makeup and Air Travel?

I know I can't have any liquids over 3 oz., but can I bring an eyelash curler? -- I heard that they might confiscate them. Also, some of my makeup, like my eyebrow kit, has metal packaging. I know it'll set off the metal detector, but is it okay? I'm flying from JFK (NY) to Cancun, with a stop in Mexico City. more

Voting Question: Calling all Internet savy/Air travel gurus!!!?

I need airline tickets to Cancun (CUN) from either Oakland (OAK) (SFO) or Sacramento CA, Leaving April 17 2010 and returning April 25 2010. 2 adults round trip. I had a sweet deal lined up 2 weeks ago but the fares have seemed to jump. I was really happy with 2 rt tics total price $565 TOTAL . Now 660 or so is the best I can find. I would like to depart around 6-8am (ideally) Maybe someone who knows the in's and out's or promo codes or secret sites or is just good at this stuff can help me. P.S. I wouldn't mind one stop/layover each way, be it guadalajara, Miami,LA, Dallas whatever Total trip time each way less than 12 hrs (hopefully) and I am ready to book today. Thanks so much more

Resolved Question: Which of the following hotels in Cancun are better? Ocean Hotel, Bel Air, or Imperial Perlas?

My wife and I are going to Mexico in May and we are going through a travel agency that will only let us pick one of the three! We want the one that has more to do and is closer to the nightlife! Any help is appreciated. Thanks! more

Resolved Question: If you have free airfare to either Cancun, Bahamas, Jamaica, Miami for a cruise, etc. where would you go?

Hi, we gave up our seats on a flight home from Florida to St. Louis and the airline gave us 2 free roundtrip tickets to anywhere they fly. We would only have to pay for hotels and food, or if a cruise, just the price of the cruise. We are 44 years old and are stuck on deciding where to go and what to do with our free tickets. Tropical Places Air Tran flies: Cancun, Aruba, Bahamas, Jamaica, Miami, Key West, and I think Cabo San Lucas. We only want to spend about 1200 bucks total for 3 nights somewhere. (This would need to include food and hotel/ or the total price for the cruise). We've never cruised before so I don't know if I'd like that or not. We looked into all inclusive places in Cancun that looked great but don't know which place is best. I checked out Atlantis in the Bahamas but that place seemed overpriced for about 1700 for 3 nights. We heard Jamaica has gone done hill somewhat and crime is a problem, not for sure on that though. Let me know what you'd do and where you'd go if you have traveled to any of these places. Thanks a lot for any information! SierraActivities we like to do: lounge around on a beach, sip drink at a tiki hut, look for shells, eat lots of food (seafood, yum!), take a little cruise to see dolphins or to go to a private island, gamble possibly, see a show maybe, but nothing that 20 year olds like, not too wild of partying etc. , more relaxed and secluded beaches preferably. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: How long to recheck bags in Houston IAH?

Hi everybody, I will be traveling from Europe to Cancun via Houston IAH and I will be flying with 2 different and non-partner airlines. This means I will have to recheck all my luggage to get on the 2nd flight. I have been reading comments about the IAH airport and I have understood the following so far: - Flying in with Air France I should be arriving at Terminal D. - Flying out with Continental Airlines (to Cancun) I should be leaving from Terminal E - IAH is a big airport, "Texas size" as some described it so you should plan enough time to go from one terminal to another (even using the internal train) - I am not sure where the baggage claim area is... one for each terminal or a central one (if so where is it located?) ? Now taking into account all that my question is: How long should I plan to get through the baggage-claim / recheck / security check process so that I will be in time for the second flight? more

Resolved Question: Cancun or the Caribbean for spring break?

me and a friend have found packages for both destinations for air travel and hotel stay for reasonable pricing. cancun is only slightly cheaper than the caribbean. do we need a passport if we're flying for either place? and which would be better to visit as far as costs and activities that are available? i don't want to get there and find that everything costs alot more than i thought and planned for. my boyfriend is mexican and speaks fluent spanish so language would not be a problem in cancun and i've heard that people in the caribbean speak mostly english. any suggestions from experience as to which would be better or just facts that may be helpful?? our plan is to go around march 7 or 8th and we'll stay about 5 days or so. more

Resolved Question: Going to Cancun, Mexico. Safe to take digital camera?

I'm heading to Cancun for a week. I'm traveling by air and would keep it in my carry-on bag. As I've never been to Mexico, just wondering how safe it would be along the line with all the people I might have contact with (customs, police, the random person on the street who's up to no good, hotel employees, etc...) It's only a couple hundred dollar camera, and I'd prefer to take it, but would I just be better off taking a couple of cheap disposables? more

Resolved Question: Trying to get to Cancun July 1-6. What's the least expensive way.?

Resolved Question: Motion Sickness and Deep Sea Fishing?

So I'm thinking about doing this Deep Sea Fishing Excursion when I go to Cancun next week. I've been on some boats before, and in my past experience I have not gotten motion sickness. But then again most boats I were on were more cruise ships and the rocking was never too intense...so I have no idea if i'm succeptible to motion sickness or not. Anyway should I take drugs to prevent it just in case then...or just find out if I do get motion sickness or not? I've been on long road trips via car/rv/busses no problem. I have no issues with air travel bumpy or smooth either. If you do suggest I take drugs..what kind do you recommend? are they easy to find like in Walgreens or other pharmacys? Thank you ~Gavin more

Resolved Question: Should I bring this issue to the court ????

Last summer we travelled to Cancun, Mexico and stayed at the Royal Holiday. Here, I was invited to be a member of a special program in which we pay about $200 per month until the total is $14,555. I was told that as a member of this program I can travel every where in the world and the Royal Holiday will pay air fare, hotel, restaurant. In the agreement they wrote "transportation", and the manager who signed that contract explained to me that it meant "air fare". Later, when I came back the US, they sent a letter to me to say sorry because "there is a small mistake" (their words), "transportation" implied "transportation from airport to hotel". Therefore, I had to ask my bank cancel the transaction. Now, the Royal Holiday in Cancun send me a Final Notice in which they say if I don't pay $14,555 they will send the case to the International Division of United Credit Bureau, Equifax, Trans Union. Should I bring this issue to the court? Or Any thing I should do? more

Resolved Question: Need help please. Best Air+Hotel inclusive deals for Cancun Honeymoon?

Okay we have 2k to spend and want to stay 7 nights. Is that enough to get a great week long vacation in cancun plus airfare? I know of people that have got great deals traveling, and others who thought they got a great deal and didn't. There are so many 'great deals' out there I don't know which is really a deal. Resolved Question: Where should I go for my 10 year anniversary?

We want to go somewhere for our 10 yr. anniversary. I have 3 young kids, so I would prefer somewhere relaxing. It can last 5-7 days. I have been to cancun for my anniversary and we went to San Francisco a few yrs. ago. I liked both, but for very different reasons. Cancun I could just lie in a chair all day and relax, San Francisco was nice with all that we got to see and do. I also went to Vegas. My husband loved it, but I think it is just not my style. I live in the midwest and would prefer it be somewhere not overseas. I had thought of Hawaii, but am not sure I want to devote 2 days of my vacation time to air travel. What do you think? Where would you go and why? What did you do there? more
