I recall an anime movie (or show) from around 2001 that involved planes that turned into robots... and travelling from space to another planet (possibly earth?) as I recall the pilot of one of these robots was chasing a girl who went there... It was aired on either Teletoon or YTV (Canadian channels) and it definitely was NOT gundam or evangelion. Just hoping someone can help me figure out what this movie/show was :) ThanksDefinitely seems like it could have been macross... can't seem to find which one it might be. moreResolved Question: What excuses will activists make here Canadian couple travelling in Mexico terrorized by armed bandits?
A Canadian couple held up by more than a dozen armed bandits while travelling through Mexico said the frightening experience was exacerbated by facing days of bureaucratic hurdles. "Two minutes of terrorism and twelve days of legal terrorism," said a weary Jack Vander Byl from his home in Portland, Ont. in eastern Ontario. Vander Byl and his wife Michelle were spending their final day in Mexico, driving their pickup truck and trailer on March 26 along a road in Tamaulipas. Their two friends, Joyce and David Miller, were following, and the travelling campers were 300 kilometres from the U.S. border. The four had been in Mexico since Jan. 5. As the road split, Vander Byl said he noticed three pickup trucks ahead, parked near the ditch, and one driver suddenly darted across the road to block any traffic. "They looked like policemen, had black uniforms, flak jackets, machine guns," said Vander Byl, adding he was not alarmed by the sight as it was common to drive through police checkpoints. When Vander Byl asked the man in Spanish for identification, the man laughed, and another bandit began forcing his hand through the cracked window. One of the 16 or more bandits pointed his gun in the air and fired a shot. "At that point, I said 'whoa, this is not a police checkpoint.' I put the truck in park and in a split second the door was open and he had me by the shoulder and yanked me out of the truck," said Vander Byl. In a few minutes, the two couples and two dogs - their friend's pets - were left by the side of the road as the bandits drove away with the vehicles. "As the guy driving Dave's truck and trailer goes by us, he waves at us and smiles," said Vander Byl. In retrospect, Vander Byl believes the couples were targeted, spotted at their last campground by the bandits. "That was the risk we were willing to take to go into Mexico, that someday this could happen. But you never dream it's going to happen to you," said Vander Byl, acknowledging certain areas of Mexico could be like "war zones." http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100411/national/mexico_carjacking moreVoting Question: Finally decided on carseats! I'm always hearing Americans say, "Well, we saved their hides a lot. If it wasn't for us, they wouldn't have a country." Guess what! If it wasn't for France, we wouldn't have a nation, either. We were not match for the British during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Who do you think set up the blockade at the Battle of Yorktown when General Cornwallis surrendered. I believe it was the French Navy. Last I checked, the same happened at the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. Yes, they refused to join us in the Iraq War. Surprise, Surprise! Most of the entire European Union didn't because they knew it was about oil let alone France. The French have done many great things for humanity. They invented tidal power, and they're one of the few First World Nations not dependent on OPEC. They also invented the world's first air-compressed car and started selling it to the Japanese and the Mexicans. In fact, that's how Mexico has been able to handle their smog problem. The French also handle nuclear power safely with strict guidelines. They're one of the cleanest countries in the world, moreover. I've heard stereotypes about them being unkind, but most French people I met were quite nice. I never had any problems with them in St. Martin. My older brother and his wife traveled to Paris one summer, and they said the people there were amazing. French cuisine is phenomenal, too. I love escargots, baguettes, croissants, eclairs, quiche, souffle, filet mignon, and coq du vin. The only things French I dislike are blue cheese and Thousand Island sauce, which is actually Canadian. Alas, my favorite Star Trek Captain Jean-Luc Picard is from France. He's far more classy than James Kirk. So what is it about the French that people gripe about so much? moreResolved Question: Fellow Canadians...Any comments on the Canada to Mexico bypass that is being constructed ..?

I want to move to Argentina long-term but my parents are not very excited at the prospect of really long periods of time between us seeing one another. I wouldn't be able to afford a $1500 round trip ticket as often as they would like, but I am wondering if there is an airline that flies between Canada and Argentina that sells multi-travel passes where I would be able to travel more frequently between the two countries and as a result get a discounted rate. I know Air Canada sells travel passes like this, but not to Argentina. I'm trying to figure out a way to put their minds at ease by showing that I'll be able to make it home more often than they are assuming. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Permitted/non-permitted items when travelling from Canada to Europe?

I am a long time resident of Alaska that actually knows what I am talking about. GlacierWolf my question for you is as follows. You have done more in your life then any one man can physically do or even imagine. I understand that you have served in all branches of the military. You have lived in every city in Alaska and then many more outside of Alaska. You are an amateur gunsmith that likes to brag about his accomplishments on Yahoo Answers. You even surprise me sometimes with new ones like how you are an audio and video engineer. If I am not mistaken you are an “Olympic class shooter” that never went to the Olympics making you not an “Olympic class shooter.” I wish it was possible to put 3 bullets in the same hole at 300 yards maybe an Olympian could do it. In your superhuman insight you reveal answers to questions that even puts the Alaska fish and game to shame. If I understand correctly Alaska has 26.1 million Caribou while fish and game puts the number closer to 900,000 I am just not sure who is correct. I know you are a world traveler but can you tell me where Alaska and Russia touch? The 5 times I have crossed the Canadian boarder 2 of which were with my dog that was not tattooed, and neither one of us had 200 dollars of cash on us. Come to think of it I also brought my 30-30 rifle with little to no trouble. The many times I traveled by air to and from Alaska I didn’t stop in Seattle. There is a flight everyday from Portland to Anchorage by AlaskaAir. During the summer there are flights from Denver, Chicago, LA, Hawaii, and many others that are direct to Anchorage. When you and your new wife open up your latest restaurant in Fairbanks maybe I will fly there on one of the many flights to enjoy. In closing I would like to get to my question. Do you enjoy telling lies or do you just don’t know the truth? I hope this helps “There are approximately 900,000 wild caribou in Alaska” – Alaska Department of Fish and Game “There are 26.1 million caribou in alaska’s largest herd” – Glacierwolf Somebody is lying. Who is it? Good luck. I am a professional photographer - so - lenses are my 'thing'. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. My wife and I have both worked in restaurants at one time in our lives. If you have any specific questions - feel free to email us. People, like me, who build these things - always have a national match or service match rifle handy to compair our work to. I owned about 12 AR's and spent 18 years shooting military competition before I built my first one from scratch. I live in Alaska. The problem is quite obvious why we hate Canadians. 95% of Alaska has to pass through Canada to get to Juneau, the capital of Alaska. We are not allowed to bring any form of food - meat, fish, etc - through the border. This means if I go to Juneau to fish and I catch a couple of nice 80lb halibut - I cannot bring it home. It also means when people from Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Skagway etc etc come to the rest of Alaska they cannot hunt - because Canada will not allow them to bring the game meat home. In Alaska we all carry guns for brown bear protection - heaven help you if you show up at the Canadian border with a firearm!! Even if it is Canadian legal. They will make you sit for hours before they decide to let you through the border - just to punish you for being Alaskan and owning a firearm. This means you can miss your ferry connection at Hanes. Canadian's are feely allowed to enter Alaska. But, when an Alaskan goes to pass through Canada to drive to Seattle or the state capitol - we are required to have to have $200 cash in hand for each and every person in the car. Credit cards and check books do not count - they want to see $$ in American dollars. This means a family of 4 must have $800 cash in hand - and as you drive though Canada every crook and theif that recognizes you are Alaksan by your car's license plates knows they might be able to hold you up - and take your cash. Oh, and if anyone in your car has had a DUI at any time in their life - the Canadian border guards make them turn around! Even if it was 40 years ago. Not so much as the Canadian people we hate - we just hate the attitude of the Canadian border guards who hassel us. You cannot fly direct to Alaska without first stopping in Seattle. Your friend is not going to have a good time crossing the border - he will need to drive through Canada to get to Alaska. Canada law requires a health certificate for each animal - not a big deal when you arrive with one cat and one certificate........ but a real problem for a breeder who is traveling with allot of animals. Each animal will need to have a tatoo that identifies the animal and matches up with the health certificate. Today it will put 4 rounds inside the exact same hole at 200 yards with the TLG Suppressor installed. The groups open up a tad with the suppressor off. moreResolved Question: Why was the Canadian Government given powers over computers and air travel?
moreResolved Question: Planning trip to Canada, please help.?
I am looking to make this trip go as smoothly as possible. My trip will be to Quebec, Canada. I intend to go via air within the next few months. My friends and family have never gone outside the states, and thus cannot provide much help. That said, I would just like a little insight from people who have actually flew there and back. I have already acquired my U.S. passport, and read basic information about the trip. There are a few outstanding concerns that I could use a few pointers on. 1. Are there any other sort of documentations that I MUST bring? I have my U.S. Passport and a Valid TX Driver License. 2. When exactly do I present the passport? Before I ever board my first plane, or whenever I actually arrive in the Canadian airport? 3.My biggest concern, customs. I don't think I fully comprehend the exact procedures of this. From what I've read, once I reach the Canadian airport, I will be required to report directly to the customs area. In this area, there will be two lines, "Declare" and "Nothing to declare". I could use a detailed walk through on this issue, if it is not too much trouble to ask. I plan on bringing only clothes, a leather jacket (though most likely not, as it will have warmed up by the time I take this trip), my cell phone/charger. Perhaps deodorant and cologne, but I can always buy some while I am there. Would I need to declare any of these items? I think my problem lies more on my lack of knowledge on what I MUST declare, and what is not necessary. The fact I've read I can be charged up to $400 for each undeclared item worries me. Also, duties/taxes- of any of the previously mentioned items, would I need to be paying some sort of fine for bringing them? 4. The return trip, I have no clue what this will be like. I've gathered I must again go through customs, but when? I've also seen that I must apparently show them all items I've obtained whilst in Canada and intend on bringing back with me. What is the exact process of all this, and what fines, if any, can I expect? Sorry for such a drawn out question, but as I said, no one I know personally really can offer any assistance. All the travel websites give some answers, but as I said, I'm looking for more of a personal experience as opposed to technical travel information. Thank you so much for all help given! moreResolved Question: POLL: Which Airlines have you travelled with?

My guy is a 5y/o mutt that I've had for 4 years, he used to "play" with his poop throwing it up in the air in an attempt to get the other dogs to go after him, he didn't eat the poop. I solved this issue with canned pineapple. Since we moved to Denver, he discovered the joys of poopcicles and goose poop. As far as I know, goose poop can contain Giardia but I haven't found any other nasty bugs that it contains, does anyone know of any other specific harmful bacteria or parasites that Canadian Geese might harbor? Has anyone had any success in deterring compulsive eating of wild animal poop? Our entire 1 mile a day walk is coated in goose poop... My dogs eat Taste of the Wild, I do not think it is a lacking of nutrients since they eat a high quality food, it appears to be more of a game. I have a lifetime supply of Drontrol Plus, should I only administer it if he comes down with a case of Giardia or as a possible preventative before any diarrhea sets in. He has not had any ill effect since migration started and since he discover the pleasures of eating goose poop; I'm hoping to keep it that way... Please only answer if you have had experience with coprophagous or this medication, I would rather get no answers than 10 "ewwwwww" answers. I can ask my teachers at school but I know there are some knowledgeable people here and thought I'd give you all a shot too. :) Suggested categories: # Travel > United States > Boston # Yahoo! As far as medicating my guy, it would be as a regular deworming; full treatment would only be after a fecal float and microscopic evaluation at school or through the vets/vet techs at work.I think I am going to try the whistle I keep on my key chain, in the past I used it for distance recalls and it worked good for breaking up foster fights back in the day... Everyone would freeze and run up to me giving a "hey, we were only playing" look, only one of my 2 (the goose poop eater) were around during the crackdown whistle days. lol I've heard of hot sauce and a few other things along those lines, works better in confined yards, unfortunately the areas I walk would need a fire hose to cover all the goose poops.singleworker: thanks, I didn't even think of lepto! I'm glad I started him on lepto vaccines 2 years ago... I was honestly thinking more along the lines of e-coli/samonilla because I had a foster come down with HGE secondary to an e-coli/samonilla/tapeworm infestation. It was a nightmare of shock, fluids, medications, hospitalization, transfusions. I don't have the same resources out here and this guy isn't covered under the rescue so I don't have the fat credit card number on file with a discounted rescue vet I talk to on a biweekly basis about my latest cases. I'm thinking because of all the illnesses my guy has been exposed to during my rescue/foster days, he's like me when I worked on the ambulance... a tank against those nasty bugs... but I would rather not play with fire and be proactive against any possibilities, my 2 guys get better health-care than me... lmao moreResolved Question: Do you think this is justified or just corrupt?

If Janet Napolitano says the system works in latest terrorists attacks of that plane is this the same system Her and Obama have regarding the Mexico border the system works ? Even though Janet Napolitano claims of her assertion that crossing the border illegally “isn’t a crime per se”, to her boneheaded claim that 9/11 terrorists came in through the Canadian border. Obama off in his $ 4.000 a day vacation home he is unable to keep America safe and lacks the experience .We are suppose to believe these same two people know anything about the border, illegals, when they say the system worked....What we are focused on is making sure that the air environment remains safe, that people are confident when they travel. And one thing I’d like to point out is that the system worked. Everybody played an important role here. The passengers and crew of the flight took appropriate action. Within literally an hour to 90 minutes of the incident occurring, all 128 flights in the air had been notified to take some special measures in light of what had occurred on the Northwest Airlines flight. We instituted new measures on the ground and at screening areas, both here in the United States and in Europe, where this flight originated. So the whole process of making sure that we respond properly, correctly and effectively went very smoothly. The sad facts are; - 2 Muslims (not White vets in militia groups) have attempted terrorist atrocities upon Americans contrary to the cooked up story JaNo and the Obama regime foisted America with their original “returning vets joining militia” warnings. - 13 innocents died at Fort Hood because the system failed. - 277 innocents on a NWA jet over Detroit are alive only due to sheer luck and stand as evidence of yet another example of this Obama regime’s failures to protect Americans. Obama and JaNo have their eyes “focused like laser-beams” on the wrong targets…and we’ve 3 more years of risk under this incompetent Obama regime. moreResolved Question: Do you need a passport to travel from Los Angeles to mexico?
This what I found: CRUISE TRAVEL The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) Passport Requirements became effective June 1, 2009, for land and sea borders. While the WHTI requires a valid passport for land and sea travel, a final ruling was issued allowing leniency for “closed-loop” cruises, i.e., sailings that both originate and terminate in the same U.S. port. Recent guidance received from the Department of Homeland Security indicates the documentary requirements under WHTI for “closed loop” cruises are not limited to cruises that travel only to contiguous territories or adjacent islands. This means U.S. citizens calling on ports in Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica and Belize will also be exempt from the passport requirement. U.S. citizens taking “closed-loop” cruises are not required to have a passport, but will need proof of citizenship such as an original or certified copy of a birth certificate, a certificate of naturalization, a passport card, an enhanced driver’s license (EDL) as well as a government-issued photo ID. Children are also required to bring proof of citizenship, and if 16 and over, a photo ID is also required. Canadian and Bermudian citizens are required to have a passport for air, land and sea travel, including all Carnival cruises. Although a passport is not required for U.S. citizens taking “closed loop” cruises, we strongly recommend all guests travel with a passport (valid for at least six months beyond completion of travel). Having a passport will enable guests to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port in the event they miss their scheduled embarkation or to fly back to the U.S. if they need to disembark the ship mid-cruise due to an emergency. If a cruise begins and ends in different U.S. ports or begins and ends in a foreign port (such as our Alaska cruises and Hawaii cruises) a valid passport or other recognized WHTI-compliant document is required. A valid passport is required if you are traveling on any of our Europe cruises. For more information, a complete list of WHTI-compliant documents or to obtain a passport application, visit www.travel.state.gov U.S. Alien Residents need a valid Alien Resident Card, Non-U.S. citizens need a valid passport and a valid, unexpired U.S. Multiple Re-entry Visa, if applicable. moreResolved Question: Traveling To Canada, I Need Help Pleaseee?

I'm sure a lot of us have heard about that Delta MD-90 that had a serious bird strike earlier this week, and if not that, than the US Airways A320 that had to make a water-landing on the Hudson earlier this year due to a flock of Canadian Geese. I'm not a vegan, but I have been wondering about this for a while. Vegans want to prevent animal suffering whenever possible, and bird strikes can be thought of as animal suffering to some. With that being said, what is the vegan take on air travel? Do vegans tend to avoid air travel because of bird strikes, or do they accept it as sort of an inevitability? moreResolved Question: Even the liberals should be angry!?

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket. I'll be going to Disneyland with my two kids this September. I've read some reviews about LAX airport and it's making me a little nervous (one reviewer said to "avoid LAX like the plague", yikes!). Most reviews mention that queues are very long and sometimes confusing. Our return flight will be 1:15pm on a Friday on Alaskan Airlines. LONG but need advice, please! I moved to Italy last year for 3 months for a nanny job and it was great. I was there from OCT-JAN.I'm canadian. I missed it so much that I got a holiday working visa that was valid from APR-OCT. I've spent 4 months living off my savings and now when I return home in October, have to replenish it all. I always have a job at home cos my parents own a restaurant. But I want to return to Italy! I know I can't keep going back and forth forever but I figure if I can work half the year and vacation half the year, why not? Problem is, my folks have the place for sale and could sell any day so I know after my next 'vacation' I won't be able to go back. I'll be 27 and broke with no savings. I am only allowed back into Italy for another 3 mnths (the working visa is only valid once in a lifetime) unless I go to school. I'm actually thinking of paying 3 grand for a language course just to stay 6 months instead of 3. I could maybe find work here as a babysitter or in the open air market but I have no desire of having a desk job, and am not bilingual anyway. I make jewelry and am a 'writer'. I get articles published in magazines here and there but nothing substantial. I'm trying to get my book published but who knows how long that could take. Anyway when I buy my ticket to return to Canada it has to be return since it's actually 1/2 price, go figure. My parents are Italian so I am waiting for my Italian passport so I can travel & work throughout Europe freely but that could take up to two years! I know if I just go home and "wait" I'll get comfortable and never come back. Also, my great apt here is very cheap and the landlord said if I come back I can have it again but I told him I'd be back for a year... not for 3 months. The price I pay for a studio is what most people pay for a single room in a house with 4 other people. My options are : a) Come back for 3 months from JUNE-SEPT, and not need a visa but likely not get my cheap apt, back for such a short time. b) Come back for 6 months from JUNE-DEC, and need a student visa and pay 3 grand for classes c) Don't come back and just focus on my life in Canada... d) Go somewhere else like Australia, and have a similar 'work & travel' experience...even thought my heart & soul is in Italylol the likely hood of me marrying an Italian is ZERO. also, I HAVE to buy a return ticket to come back in june.. i so 3 months or 6 mnths is the q i guess. moreResolved Question: who is the best travel agent in dubai for dubai-- toronto for a week tour including air fare and hotel stay.?

Alright, so I'm planning a "backpacking" excursion over to Europe for my wife and I, and so far everything has been planned out quite well. I'm on the final leg of the journey (Rome, Italy) and have hit a roadblock concerning the flight back to North America. From what I have found, it is just too expensive for us to fly back to North America from Rome (over $1000 a ticket), and after looking through many different flight searches (Kayak, Martinair, Fly Global Span, Canadian Affair, Thomas Cook, Air Transat, Air India, Icelandair, etc.) I have yet to find a more satisfactory price. Getting to my question(s) however, I was wondering if anyone was able to locate or point me towards cheap flight tickets leaving from Europe/UK (any city really) to North America (preferably Toronto) around the 9th of August? Any information from people who have traveled before, have an interest in travel, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to keep looking over the weekend and talk to a travel agent as well, but I would love to hear some tips from you all. Thank you :D Derek moreResolved Question: Do i need cash to drive to Canada from US?

Hey there! I am 13 years old, and my current dog, a Chilean Rat, is growing very old, and my father and I are thinking of adding a new dog to our two person family. The thing is, my father is a business man who travels internationally sometimes very unexpectedly, and I need a stable dog that will be able to travel from cold Canadian climates to warmer temperatures in Belize, Mexico, Chile and the Bahamas. I need a protective dog that is easily trainable, calm, and rather intimidating so I can take brisk walks in unfamiliar countries knowing I have a source of protection. If you can give me a list of breeds you think would suit these traits and if you could give me an average price of air travel with large dogs, I'd appreciate it! Now you have no excuse. Here are the links you need to go the Northernmost Part of Canada. Why don't you all make it happen? I'll give you a lift to Ottawa or take Air Canada to Ottawa first?DESTINATION: Grise Fjord http://img1.photographersdirect.com/img/17190/wm/pd690661.jpgI LOVE Prince Albert (PA), I was there last year when I did Manitoba-Saskatchewan. I almost ran out of gas driving from Saskatoon to PA, barely made it to the Super 8. The day after that I drove to the park entrance and PA has really neat meadows, tree diversity, the whole Prince Albert area would surprise many who think Saskatchewan is flat flat flat, it rather looks like Banff without the mountains.I guess there's LEVELS of Northness in Canada. 1) If you go North of PA, the farthest you can get to by road is "La Ronge" which is a hunting town at Latitude 55. 2) If you go North in Alberta, Fort McMurray above Edmonton is it 3) West into BC the Alaska Highway to the Klondike will take you much farther up, the Dempster Highway being the highest you can get, Latitude 68 -Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk in winter when the ice road is open. 4) But by air, you can get the farthest up, Resolute Bay is Latitude 74, Grise Fjord is Latitude 76. The top of Ellemsere Island, not accessible to civilians, is Latitude 80. The farthest North on Earth you can travel commercially is Parallel 80, but that involves flying to Oslo, Norway, then embarking on the MS Nordstjernen cruise ship which stops in Svalbard, Parallel 78, and onto the route North of Parallel 80. Parallel 90 is the North Pole.actually, you can go straight to the North Pole....only in April...for $25,000 per person by helicopter. But you'll see very littleEdit: How could anyone NOT like 24-hour sunshine? If you want instant gratification and have no appreciation for natural scenery whatsoever, all you'd see is bitter cold and flies. If you had more determination, however, you'd see the North as the last unexplored frontieer in North America, granting 21st century people the chance to experience something that elsewhere you can only read about in the library. moreTop Canadian Air Travel Links
