My friends and I are currently studying abroad in Rome and we are trying to plan our spring break travels around Europe. Our spring break begins on February 27th and we need to be back in Rome by March 7th. Our main destinations are Amsterdam, Prague, and Munich, preferably in that order (we are trying to start at the top of Europe and work our way down). We want to leave Rome on the 27th of February to go to Amsterdam and leave Munich on the 6th or 7th of March to get back to Rome. I have been looking up flights on easyjet.com and it seems much cheaper to fly into a neighboring city or country and take a train into Amsterdam. I need help planning flights, train rides, hostels, etc., so anyone who has any experience with this would be of much help to us. Also, if you can specifically supply links/prices that would be great. Price IS a concern for us as we are college students, so we do not need to stay in any 5-star hotels or fly first-class. All I ask is to avoid Ryan Air because I have heard some awful things about them. If anyone can help us we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much! Ciao! moreResolved Question: Does anyone have experience traveling (by air) with their small dog overseas?

Back when there were Greek city-states they city-states carried on economic relations and trades with each other to a great extent. This was trade amongst the world as they knew it. Then the Roman Empire believed in always expanding resources and boundaries. Even when the roman Empire disintegrated travel, commerce, and communication flourished among groups and citizens. The Ancient Kingdom of Ghana and the Kingdom of Mali (fifth - thirteenth centuries) traded gold and salt with their Arab neighbors. In the late Middle Ages Europe greatly expanded commercial activity into larger geographic areas as more trade routes became available. The desire to expand economic intercourse has always existed, and later became even more of a reality as safe ocean travel was possible. So I believe the world has always been on the move towards Globalization, and practiced it to the best of their ability at any given time. If this is true, then why are modern day presidents pushing towards Globalization? With merchant ships and air travel I think it was made a true reality, and the internet just made it easier... so what is it we need to do to accomplish Globalization if we already do business on a world scale? moreResolved Question: Does anyone know if optometrists in the air force get deployed?
I am thinking of joining the air force as an optometrist- they have great benefits and it would give me the opportunity to travel internationally. I would especially love to end up in Europe. I was wondering if anyone knows of any optometrists in the air force, or have been stationed internationally and what the quality of the housing options are. Am I required to live on the base if I am stationed overseas? If so, how often am I allowed to leave the base to explore the surrounding towns? I live in a big city, and if I am assigned in the States, I am hoping not to end up in Utah or something, what are the chances of me ending up in a place that I don't like, like the South? Where are the bases with the most need in my line of work? I am single and have no dependents. Thanks for your help! moreVoting Question: Why one way air ticket is more expensive than a R/T ticket for same traveling date? So who wants to book O/W?

Hey I'm in the Air Force and i find it hard to find a girl that is willing to travel and be in a military relationship. I know not a lot of girls want to live in Europe and Asia or wherever the military puts me, and not a lot will want to put up with me going to Iraq or Afghanistan (I have and will again). And also not a lot are willing to deal with the Air Force is a priority in life and its my duty to do my job to the best of my ability, so if I have to work a weekend I gotta work a weekend. I mean I get plenty of time off but a lot of women want me to focus on my time on them. Where can I find such a girl that is all of that and will stay loyal to me? My searches and hopes seem fruitless. I'm not into one night stands, I'm young (early 20s) but I really want a companion in life I don't wanna jump around.Edit - Sorry for the horrible grammar, its late and I completely forgot to re-read before I posted.Yeah but I plan on making this career. JOHN TITOR, December 13, 2000 12:44: The Jewish population in Israel is not prepared for a true offensive war. They are prepared for the ultimate defense. Wavering western support for Israel is what gives Israel's neighbors the confidence to attack. The aerial drill, named "Milad-e Nour-e Velayat," will involve Iranian fighter jets and interceptor aircraft to perform combat operations over a distance of 3,000 kilometers in four stages, the report said. The Iranian maneuver, one of some conducted in the past few months, comes amid growing speculations of a possible Israeli attack against the country, Press TV said. Israeli air force conducted an exercise in mid-May, which simulated missile attacks on Israeli cities from countries including Iran and Syria. Israel's daily Ha'aretz quoted Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak as saying that the drill conducted by his country's military helped show Israel's preparedness for regional war conditions. It revealed how well Israel could defend itself on multiple fronts should war break out with regional powers such as Iran and Syria, Barak said. MESSAGE FROM OLIVER WILLIAMS: John told us that civil war would be coming to the United States. Many have criticized John because events have not unfolded exactly the way John said. Others have pointed out that John also said his timeline and ours were slightly different. John also said that when the war came, there would be plenty of guns available. Is civil war coming as John said but just a few years late? JOHN TITOR, 02-06-2001 08:33 AM : The attack on Europe is in response to a unified European army that masses and moves East from Germany. One forecast that did not pan out, however, had to do with the 2004 Olympics, which Titor said would be postponed until 2040. Williams defended Titor by pointing out that because of the nature of time travel his timeline/universe was likely different than our own. moreResolved Question: im looking to join the air force but I need help clearing stuff up?
Im looking to join the air force as i love the military and all it has to offer. I'm in ROTC right now. However I keep noticing that officer life is suburban and the types of people usually associated with the military are conservatives. I however am a city boy. Not one who was "raised on the streets" but someone who really appreciates and enjoys the city center, nightclubs, museums, hanging out with punk rockers and the like ( I'm from new York city and I love manhattan with all my heart) . Unfortunately the nearest air force base to NYC is 90 minutes away, too far for off base housing. Also while I love the outdoors I am not used to suburb life as I have never grown up there. I wonder if there is anyone like me in the air force who finds a way to cope. I'm also wondering if there is anyone who finds a way to travel to see the world and how they do it. One of my dreams is backpacking Europe, or Asia and staying in hostels. Is all that even possible while serving your country? moreResolved Question: Would you be upset if your sister-in-law planned her wedding right near your due date?
My sister-in-law just got engaged this week! We are so happy for her and her future husband and we were really looking forward to the wedding. They have been talking about getting married for a while. I am 3 months pregnant, expecting our second child and the family is well aware of my due date. She is marrying a man that lives out of country, so there will be two weddings. It was well known between us that we would be one of the few family members willing to travel to go to the wedding in Europe. Tonight we found out that she is planning one of the weddings a week before my due date and one two weeks after my due date. When she told my husband he said that we probably wouldn't be able to attend with the baby coming and she didn't respond in any way. We were counting on my father in law to be there when the baby is born to watch our other child, but now that is up in the air. We have no one else in our family that can travel the 8 hours to be there at any time of the day or night (he is retired) and he was the only volunteer. I don't want to be selfish, but I'm so hurt and upset. We are close with the family and there are no issues between any of us. Am I over-reacting? Do we say anything or stay quiet? moreResolved Question: is there any body in dakar sengal refugee camp called Goodness mabou?

I am a Malaysian working in Norway. I am planning a little tour of France and United Kingdom this coming May. Here's how my plan goes: 1. Fly from Oslo to Paris by air 2. Travel from Paris to London on Eurostar 3. Travel from London to Edinburgh via train 4. Return to Oslo from Edinburgh by air I'm worried that for the trips from Oslo to Paris, then Paris to London and finally from Edinburgh back to Oslo I might experience difficulties at the immigration authorities because I'll be holding 1-way tickets instead of return tickets. Okay so about two years ago i was landing in denver CO. As soon as we hit the cluds the plane started shaking super bad and falling thourgh the air. I thought we were crashing and i looked death in the eyes literally. My sister and i told eachother we loved eachother. People were screaming and crying. It was soo horrible. This continued for about 7 minutes until we emerged from the clouds. There was still alot of shaking but we were closer to the ground. We landed safely but even th pilots and flight attendents were shocked. Before that i had started getting a little scared of planes but not much and that incident made it even worse. I have traveled to Europe in 1st grade and mexico when i was little asleast 5 times. I used to love planes now i HATE THEM! I went flying with my sister be ourselfs to New Jersey.. since i live in illinois. Everytime the plain had a tiny bump i would have a Panic attack. Now she is scared of planes because i have eben so scared for the past 3 years. Its gotten to a point where i would rather do anything than go on a plane. My grandpa's funeral is coming up in March. Its in New Jersey and i really want to. I just don't want to make the flight. Then once i get there i will be worrying about coming back the whole time. This fear of flying has taken over my life. My family loves to travel so during the summer we went to turkey and Asia. ( this is normal for my family) it was the WORST 24 horus of my life flying there. For some reason i always have to look out the window at the wing because everytime it bumbs i see the wing and it conforts me. I have stared out a window on a plane for 8 hours once. I HATE takeoff Cruising and landing. Its all if it. I hate taking off because you are getting up higher and higher. I hate cruising because when there turblence you know that you aren't landing soon. I sort of like landing but not through bad weather. Because i feel everytime we drop i can say we are getting closer to the ground. I have taken online courses but NOTHING has helped. My parents say i can go to my doc and get apill that will knock me out for the plane ride but i want to get rid of my fear and not have to go to sleep everytime i fly. I NEED help really bad. NOTHING helps me and i mean NOTHING. I know the statics i somewhat know how a plane works but that doesn't help at all. I hate the feeling of being so high above the ground and just ugh. It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it. Plus i start worrying 4 months in advance about a flight. I know its long but i need help. Anyone who can recomend some medicine for me or a doctor in the saint louis area that could help me. Thanks ALOT. (: moreResolved Question: What?! How can i make this experience more enjoyable. I know you're more likely to die on the way to the airport than on the plane. I am not scared of dying or the plane falling or what not. I am claustrophobic and have anxiety. This is why i am scared of flying, not because i don't trust the air lines. With that said, do you have any suggestions? What have you done to help you in previous flights. It will be a 11 hour flight. I appreciate any ideas. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. If Janet Napolitano says the system works in latest terrorists attacks of that plane is this the same system Her and Obama have regarding the Mexico border the system works ? Even though Janet Napolitano claims of her assertion that crossing the border illegally “isn’t a crime per se”, to her boneheaded claim that 9/11 terrorists came in through the Canadian border. Obama off in his $ 4.000 a day vacation home he is unable to keep America safe and lacks the experience .We are suppose to believe these same two people know anything about the border, illegals, when they say the system worked....What we are focused on is making sure that the air environment remains safe, that people are confident when they travel. And one thing I’d like to point out is that the system worked. Everybody played an important role here. The passengers and crew of the flight took appropriate action. Within literally an hour to 90 minutes of the incident occurring, all 128 flights in the air had been notified to take some special measures in light of what had occurred on the Northwest Airlines flight. We instituted new measures on the ground and at screening areas, both here in the United States and in Europe, where this flight originated. So the whole process of making sure that we respond properly, correctly and effectively went very smoothly. The sad facts are; - 2 Muslims (not White vets in militia groups) have attempted terrorist atrocities upon Americans contrary to the cooked up story JaNo and the Obama regime foisted America with their original “returning vets joining militia” warnings. - 13 innocents died at Fort Hood because the system failed. - 277 innocents on a NWA jet over Detroit are alive only due to sheer luck and stand as evidence of yet another example of this Obama regime’s failures to protect Americans. Obama and JaNo have their eyes “focused like laser-beams” on the wrong targets…and we’ve 3 more years of risk under this incompetent Obama regime. moreResolved Question: Do you believe it when Janet Napolitano says the “system worked”?

So the whole process of making sure that we respond properly, correctly and effectively went very smoothly. If the “system” had “worked,” the U.S. consular officials who granted Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab a short-term visa last June would have revoked it immediately upon being informed by his father that he was a Muslim radical with al Qaeda ties. If the “system” had “worked,” U.S. consular officials would have never granted Abdulmutallab — a rootless, young, single male — a visa in the first place in compliance with State Department visa regulation 214(b): That law requires an applicant to show strong roots in his home country — such as a house, a spouse, and/or employment — in order to prove that he would be likely to return home when his visa expired. Young, single, unemployed men are the people most often refused visas under 214(b) (when it is actually enforced) for the very reasons that al Qaeda recruits them so heavily: They are shiftless and have very little to stop them from packing up and moving to a new country. There’s also, sadly, very little to prevent them from committing terrorist attacks. If the “system” had “worked,” Abdulmutallab would have been barred from the U.S. like he had been barred from Britain. The “system,” like Napolitano, was an epic fail. And as predicted, Napolitano also played the “lone nut” card — dismissing the Christmas Day jihadist as a single operator not part of “anything larger” despite his own testimony to the contrary. She’s Obama’s biggest joker. And there’s no Blame-Bush loophole to weasel through anymore. http://michellemalkin.com/2009/12/27/clown-alert-janet-napolitano-says-the-system-worked/ moreResolved Question: men, do i sound stuck up?

I am flying in from the US by Cathay Pacific Airlines to Bangkok for onward travel to Bhutan on 24th Dec. I am worried about having to drag my bags out of BBK Airport and having to deal with Thai Customs to check-in with Druk Air to Bhutan after 12 hrs. Please tell me what is the best option available for me? I remember traveling to Europe by SAS and Druk Air sent by bags from Bhutan to a transit center for SAS. Is there something like that for Druk Air passengers or can I get a place to store my luggage in BBK airport for sometime before I check in with Druk Air. Thank you so much for your time, moreVoting Question: Do you need a passport to travel from Los Angeles to mexico?
This what I found: CRUISE TRAVEL The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) Passport Requirements became effective June 1, 2009, for land and sea borders. While the WHTI requires a valid passport for land and sea travel, a final ruling was issued allowing leniency for “closed-loop” cruises, i.e., sailings that both originate and terminate in the same U.S. port. Recent guidance received from the Department of Homeland Security indicates the documentary requirements under WHTI for “closed loop” cruises are not limited to cruises that travel only to contiguous territories or adjacent islands. This means U.S. citizens calling on ports in Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica and Belize will also be exempt from the passport requirement. U.S. citizens taking “closed-loop” cruises are not required to have a passport, but will need proof of citizenship such as an original or certified copy of a birth certificate, a certificate of naturalization, a passport card, an enhanced driver’s license (EDL) as well as a government-issued photo ID. Children are also required to bring proof of citizenship, and if 16 and over, a photo ID is also required. Canadian and Bermudian citizens are required to have a passport for air, land and sea travel, including all Carnival cruises. Although a passport is not required for U.S. citizens taking “closed loop” cruises, we strongly recommend all guests travel with a passport (valid for at least six months beyond completion of travel). Having a passport will enable guests to fly from the U.S. to a foreign port in the event they miss their scheduled embarkation or to fly back to the U.S. if they need to disembark the ship mid-cruise due to an emergency. If a cruise begins and ends in different U.S. ports or begins and ends in a foreign port (such as our Alaska cruises and Hawaii cruises) a valid passport or other recognized WHTI-compliant document is required. A valid passport is required if you are traveling on any of our Europe cruises. For more information, a complete list of WHTI-compliant documents or to obtain a passport application, visit www.travel.state.gov U.S. Alien Residents need a valid Alien Resident Card, Non-U.S. citizens need a valid passport and a valid, unexpired U.S. Multiple Re-entry Visa, if applicable. moreResolved Question: Why is domestic (inter-South Ameirca) air travel so damn expensive?
Hi, I am in the process of booking my local flights in South America for my holiday in March and I can't get over how expensive travel is in South America, its over $350usd just to get a flight from Lima to Guayaquil (a short flight) and was going to cost me $500usd+ from Argentina to Ecuador. I have shopped around and seen these are the going rates. Back to my question - Are these rates because of the lower quantity of people flying in ratio to the populations of these countries? My theory on these prices is the more proportional people fly in richer countries.. the more competition there hence cheaper airfares. I am from New Zealand and Australia and my return ticket to South America is almost the same as a ticket from Argentina to Ecuador (and that's only one way too!)... I know in the countries I've travelled (Europe, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Asia).. air travel is cheap comparatively. I know this is a silly question.. but being a pilot this interests me and but I would love to hear some other thoughts. Thanks, Jason. moreResolved Question: Waiting to book an Aer Lingus flight?
I am planning on booking a flight for my honeymoon in the coming months. It is like a cat and mouse game with the air fares. Aer Lingus is pretty cheap to Europe right now and I'm thinking I should book. The flight just went up $20 from a week ago, but if memory serves well - in January - Aer Lingus flights go back on sale - drastically for summer travel. I'm wondering if I wait too long, we'll be priced out, but maybe they'll go down again. Don't know what to do.Thanks, I see their financial director is leaving at the end of this month and people are saying Ryan Air is going to get it by the end of 2010. Hopefully, there will still be a sale in Jan. and everything will be fine in the summer. I mean that's when the money is made. moreResolved Question: Thinking of joining the military. Which branch should I go for?
Alright. Here's the background. I'm 28 years old. 6'6 about 220 pounds. Took a couple college courses but no degree. I'm at a point in my life where I have nothing to hold me back. No Job, No girlfriend, No family, No car, no money. So its obvious that its time for me to get on the friggen ball. I'm not genius level IQ but I'm certainly not stupid. I've checked this same question that others have asked before me. The best option I gathered is the Air Force or the Coast Guard. Both of which I am too old for. The work I was interested in doing within whatever branch I joined was Security/Law enforcement. So after leaving I'd like to try to become a police officer/crime scene investigator. I would love to travel. Especially to Europe, China/Japan, Hawaii, or any of the Caribbean islands. I'm not too keen of going into combat and being shot at. Thanks for any answers I can get. moreResolved Question: HELP PLEASE?!?! TEEN TRAVEL....Air flight cost?!?!?

I have a month to hitch-hick anywhere in the world, and be back to school on Jan 11th. I figured that if it was taking to long to get back I could just fly back. But I live in Michigan's upper peninsula, and air fairs here are up the wall. I'm sure in a months time, I could get just about anywhere, but getting there and back; well I don't want to miss the first day of school, and that might be pushing my luck. If I could get to Canada, or Mexico, would flying be cheaper there? Is there a better place to fly into that is within 1,000 miles of michigan, like Chicago, New York, Milwaukee, etc... I hear traveling in Europe and Africa are really cheep, Would a plane ticket over there from Guatemala be a lot cheaper than from here? I think riding to Guatemala fun anyways. Thanks for all the suggestion, **Stupid people are not allowed to comment.Yes, I have a passport. (Specifically) How long would they be there? - How many men would be placed in a ____ (squad?/company?) which would become a sub category in an Infantry Division, which is another subcategory of an Airborne Division? - When would the newly enlisted and trained US Paratroopers (how long after training) be transported across the Atlantic to Europe? And how would they get there? (large troop ship?) What port/country/city would they most likely be shipped to? How long after being stationed in ____ (England?) would they be put into combat or would they just sit as reserves or wait and continue training etc in _____ until they recieved orders for a major operation such as Operation Overlord or Operation Market Garden? Thank you so much! Any further or more specific detail is VERY much appreciated! moreResolved Question: Replacement of lost passport?
This is Balwant Singh Garia, an Indian national living and working in Thailand for last 14-15 years, having a respectful job in Bangkok. On May 17, 2009, I had a misfortune of having my computer, air ticket, cash and passport stolen by taxi driver at the Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. I was leaving for England on a business trip on that fateful day. Having secured a valid police report and photocopies of my passport and other necessary documents, I approached the Indian Embassy for issuance of a new passport, in the last week of May 2009. My job requires frequent traveling to other countries like Europe & U.S.A to secure business for the company. Without a passport and unable to travel for business for the company, my well paying job is at stake. I am married to a Thai national and have a growing up daughter of 5 years. As the mother is not living in Thailand, I also have to take care of my daughter singly. My daughter is a Thai national. If I leave Thailand to India than no one is there to look after the child. I Will not be allowed to reside in Thailand without a proper passport & visa and not be able to take care of my young daughter. My present visa to stay in Thailand expires soon. It’s been nearly more than 5 months since I made a request for issuance of a new passport but I am yet to receive a satisfactory reply from the officials at Indian Embassy in Bangkok. I even have been told that it could take months or years before a new passport could be made which I find very disturbing. I, being an Indian citizen feel quite disappointed and discouraged to find myself in this helpless situation in a foreign country. I think the embassy officials are under a false impression that this is my third passport that has been LOST where as the fact is that my two earlier passports were DAMAGED & NOT STOLEN OR LOST. All previous passports are in my pocession. I am trying to call the responsible officer looking after my case but all the time I am being told by his secretary to call later. I have sent emails to passport issuing authority in New Delhi but so far I haven't recieved any responce from them. Anyone there has any idea what should I do in this situation? B.S.
