Voting Question: The fall of the big 12??????

Travel NCAA football consists of just 12 games in 13 weeks. But let's face it, it's not all about football. There are other sports to consider. For example, the Texas Longhorn baseball team played over 50 games against over 20 opponents. The farthest they traveled was Columbia, Mo., which is 800 miles by road. Imagine when they have to play the Washington Huskies. That's around 2,100 miles. That's a long way to go for a baseball game. Throw in men's basketball, track and field, swimming and diving, golf, and tennis, plus women's basketball, softball, tennis, volleyball, rowing, track and field, and all the others, and you've inconvenienced the entire athletic division. Not to mention the parents and fans. In the SEC, the driving distance would be around 1,000 miles tops, and that's to Gainesville, Fla. Weather It's damn cold in the Pacific Northwest and Big Ten territory October through December. Do you really want to send all those Southern boys, family, and fans to sit in an open stadium with a -10 degree windchill factor? There's a reason the good bowl games are held in the South and California. It's warm. Joining the Big Ten or the Pac-10 only puts your football team at a disadvantage when it comes to away games. Geography Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Pac in Pac-10 stand for Pacific? Good luck moving Texas and Oklahoma to the left coast. You'd be forever the outsider in the Pac-10. But the jokes should be good. The Big Ten is no better. Let's not forget our roots here. We're Southerners. We belong down South. The deeper the better. Imagine the influx of carpetbaggers when the Big Ten Network starts airing your games. If for no other reason, consider geographical pride when choosing which conference to join. Recruiting Texas is already losing top recruits to the SEC. Always have and always will. Do you want to start losing even more to the Pac-10 and Big Ten schools? Because it will happen. You may start losing even more recruits to the SEC if the kids don't want to play in the other two conferences. Competition Do you really want to be stuck playing a crippled USC, the Arizonas, UCLA, either Washington team, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio? If so, you'll be the new bully on the block. Your teams will only get better by playing Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, and South Carolina. Four of these teams have won BCS championships. Prestige The Big 12 South has always been under the impression that they were in the best conference, period. Except for one pesky fact: That honor goes to the SEC. Well, now you have your chance. If the Big 12 South is indeed that strong, then prove it in the conference that has won half of all the BCS championships, including the last four. This is your chance to man up. Tommy Tuberville Who wouldn't want to see coach Tuberville get another shot at Nick Saban? I don't care what anybody says, if Tuberville had gotten a seventh straight win against Alabama, Gene Chizik would still be in Iowa. Better yet, Tommy Tuberville vs. Auburn. Imagine the hype surrounding that game. It would become an automatic rivalry that could last beyond Tuberville's tenure at Texas Tech. Who in the SEC wouldn't watch that game? Conclusion Money isn't everything. Well, maybe to some. But I say let's get above that fray. If there is going to be a conference realignment, let's do it to make football better. Better for the athletes, better for the parents, better for the fans. And who's to say that with the addition of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Baylor, the SEC wouldn't be the king of the machine that drives college sports these days? What do you think? Is the fall of the big 12 good or bad? To me, it is bad. Weather, Extra money being poured out. The Conferences were made so that colleges would be is a close distance for games. This is just completely stupid. Not to mention the time zones will be messed up for viewers on Central and Eastern Time Zones. more

Resolved Question: Will you blame Robert Green or you going to blame the incredibly bouncy kiddie rubber ball?

I mean, seriously. Who else thinks that the Adidas Jabulani is the worst ball ever manufactured in the history of FIFA? This is what peeps had to say: Brazil goalkeeper Júlio César said the ball felt horrible, comparing it to a "supermarket" ball that favored strikers and worked against goalkeepers.[7] Giampaolo Pazzini from Italy labelled it "a disaster".[8] Chile's goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo, complained about the ball, saying "it was made to make life difficult for the goalkeepers."[9] Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas also branded the ball "appalling".[10] Italian keeper Gigi Buffon said, "it is very sad that a competition so important as the world championship will be played with such a horrible ball."[11] Brazilian striker Luís Fabiano called the ball "supernatural", as it unpredictably changed direction when travelling through the air, adding that none of the players of the Brazilian squad reacted in favor of the ball. In the same interview, Brazilian Júlio Baptista said the ball worked against strikers and goalkeepers, as it moved in different and unintended directions after a kick.[12] Joe Hart of England, after training with the ball for a number of days, said the "balls have been doing anything but staying in my gloves." Altitude issues at today's England Vs. USA match? Isn't the ball actually supposed to be manufactured to defy all of that?Yes, Howard was AWESOME. :]Oh, and I'm not English and I thought that was a very poor save by him, too. But the ball seems posessed by a Haitian Voodoo spirit. more

Resolved Question: my baby girl was not properly monitored & examined after her birth...died a month later.should i sue!!?

I am a first time mother to an angel. my baby girl full term was born on jan 12th 2010 POS GENERAL...she was kept in neonatal unit for 6 days...given a full clean bill of health & sent home. we had a perfect week. 1 week later she takes in a feed & turns blue.. taken to a hospital in icu..diagnosed with heart failure..SAN FERNANDO never sent home from icu she fully recovered n was again normal baby just sent from icu to pediatric ward in an incubator.. the next following weeks i observed everything done to her and it was unjustified...i started living in the hospital to be her 24-7 monitor & be with my angel. it was seen that interns were sent to practise on her...crirtical case & they put interns to work on her! sometimes the 'doctor'might i add in practise of 6 months!!! didnt even know where to give her antibotics ..n through what till i pointed out a tube was there for that purpose ( from nose to stomache) nothing to be given by mouth. the 'doctor'didnt even know how to open the incubator. others lost patience with finding her veins and shaved part of her hair n stuck her in the head cause it was easier.. some wasted her blood taking blood samples filling tubes n then leaving it there to be smashed on the floor. they starved her for 4 days ...my poor baby!! i was not allowed to feedher ...:''( they gave her nothing. by the time we had gotten her to her first flight in effort of surgery ..whilst the doctor said she was ok for travel...boarding the plane ..she started loosing breath, vitals started failing my god!!!!..the other two attempts to fly failed wen we got her private planes. she had to be taken right back into that horrid hospital. umm..the morning of the 12th of febuary..i noticed her looking a bit blue..a nurse came saw her n told me i was being histerical- baby is fine.. in the next half an hour to an hour i noticed her breathing slowing n she was gasping for air ... i held her upright n with the oxygen closer to her so she didnt have to struggle to breathe n pull air. she started relaxing ...a nurse saw me told me to put her flat she needs to relax..hesitant n after verbal abuse i put her down ...flat...:( i should have not have listened because instead of relaxing..my little girl went into worse breathing than before..... so i held her upright again both hands in the incubator she seemed to relax the higher i held her like a car seat ....i called , i yelled , i screamed ..no one came to my aid..finally i said if my baby dies all of the medic in here will too n then doctors came..stood n watched for an hour ...finally her cardiologist comes in n says why are u all looking there n standing there...why is this baby not taking to icu n stablized she's going into cardic failure?? he himself told me to put her down to examine her like he wasnt sure what was going on...then i said she breathes better wen i hold her almost sitting up...he said ok do that.i walked to the icu unit holding her up trying my best to hold my own...as i saw her breathing dropping n wavering... 3/4 of the way to icu ..he told me to put her flat as it was faster n speedingly pushed the incubator into icu floor..but she once started again gasping..i walked to the icu trying my best to hold my own...as i saw her breathing dropping... by the time they reached icu....she had to be put on a ventilator having exhausted her lungs:(.... in critical condition. for the 13th feb we organised a private air ambulance n took her to columbia to cardio infantil ...where it was the worst i had ever seen her ...i saw what sanfernando had done n it was horibble. we had a spiritual awakening on valentines ..cause she went from critical to stable n ready for surgery...then in the evening when i saw her ...she loooked so torchured that i prayed ...told her i loved her forever & said a prayer of perfect healing n the holy spirit to fill her after which she opened her eyes n reached her arms up to the ceiling & left. the doctors worked on her but it was in vain ..my angel went back to heaven. told if it was detected earlier... we had been here earlier she could have gotten surgery n been alive!! now im here stuck without a life .....bills are pilled up..lives are shattered.....her dad & i have grown apart n distant as he doesnt know how to deal with this..hes gone back to holland after 3 yrs together n me im not able to hold my head up n smile...no sleep since january ..i dont know where my life is anymore... had the hospital who delivered her done their job...they would have detected the heart & we wouldv n couldv done something ..kels would be alive n in my arms. Someone needs to pay for this..its not should i sue but how??!!!!! broken mom kd more

Resolved Question: I'm giving a high school graduation speech, and I need help. How can I improve this speech?

Graduation Speech: Our Keys Well here we are sitting in the pollen filled air, wearing these unflattering robes, while the band is ready to play us off. Everyone knew this day would come, whether or not out teachers, our parents, or we were ready for it. We, the 2010 senior class of [name] High School, are about to take a giant step forward. Today marks the end of a very long journey, a journey that can not be marked in years but in our blood, sweat, and tears. The first step of this journey began just over 12 years ago. It began with ABC's, 123s, learning how to share crayons, friends, not to steal, not to hit people and say sorry. During out time in the sandbox we were taught to stick together, be watchful of strangers, clean up your own mess and to put things back where you found them. These are lessons that we learned 12 years ago and need to be kept with us on our move into the jungle. All of the things we learned in the beginning of our journey gave us the keys to start our journey and they can be the keys to opening new doors in the future. After a decent time playing in our sandbox we looked up to find a playground and there we wandered off to play for the next few years. The playground was a little more complicated than the sandbox and it was definitely more dangerous. As we trekked through this new and dangerous plane, we lost same of our old keys and picked up sticks and stones instead. During the years on the playground we learned that not all people are fair and kind, you reap what you sow, and there are many shades of gray. These new keys were puzzles; they look nothing like keys when we first found them. Some were sharp and painful, while others were deceiving and seemed worthless but we held onto the new keys anyway. These strange new puzzle keys would be solved on the next stretch of our journey and become irreplaceable. The final stretch of our journey took us from the playground to a sports center (gym). The sports center (gym) was definitely more complicated than the playground and there were many more things to do and equipment to play on. Yet there was a hidden danger to this new, clean place. If we were not careful we could end up hurting ourselves on this new equipment. However this sports center (gym) also had many more instructors and all of them wanted to show us how to use the new equipment. As we learned to use the equipment, the instructors helped us solve the puzzling keys from the playground. Solving these keys led us to new discoveries. We learned that life takes all kinds so accept them as the come, honesty is the best policy, it is okay to cry and depend on others, and to always carry a dictionary and a thesaurus. These lessons were our new, big, shiny keys. These keys helped us to form our view of the world and how we might fit in it. As we end this journey and start the next one, I want to offer you the chance to go back and find your old, lost keys or ones you might have missed. Even though the big, shiny keys seem better or more important, all of the keys are needed to open doors in your future. So now take minute to travel back to the playground; make sure to look under wood-chips and the slide. Now go even further back, all the way back to the sandbox. Be sure to remember to flip over buckets and dig deep to find the keys. Have you found all of our old keys? The ones made of multicolored mixed up play dough? How about the ones made of macaroni? Did you fin the keys made of puzzles and riddles? I hope so. Even if you didn’t find them today, I hope you find new key, open more new doors and revisit the place of your past to finish finding your old keys. more

Resolved Question: If we were to end up getting another dog, what would be the best dog for us from this list?

This is an if we decide we need to go ahead and bring in another dog. In this I mention a bit about us and our lifestyle. I mention our other dogs personality. And some breeds that have been recommended for us. My wife has contact at our local shelter, her contact runs it. And she said even though we have a baby if we were ever ready to adopt again she would let us adopt. They don't have a child age limit but They do it on a case by case basis. My wife volunteers there and they know us. If we do bring in a new dog, I'd have to bring in a young puppy. I don't think our current dog would accept an adult dog into her pack. But she is very nurturing toward puppies. She just does better with dogs she has known from when they were pups. A little about us: We have the best dog in the world, she is a 2 year old Terrier mix. We have had since we adopted her at 12 weeks of age. She is an amazing dog. Obedient, eager to please, well behaved. Good with dogs and most cats. Great with kids. She is the perfect apartment dog, she doesn't bark much unless she thinks something is up. She is very active when outdoors but inside she is a real couch potato. Pretty much lays around and watches tv and plays with her toys. She is very calm and gentle by nature. So that is her personality. We do currently live in an apartment. They are pretty lenient about dogs here, we have Pit Bulls living here even. But in order to own a Pit Bull, Doberman, or anything like that. You have to have special permission from the landlord. We are pretty active on the go people. We take our dogs out with us a lot. Being that we are in an apartment we make sure plenty of exercise opportunities are given. We even take our dog with us when we travel. We have a baby, currently 4 months old. If we brought in another dog it would be later this year. You may say, you don't want the stress of a baby and a puppy. But compared to the stress I've been under the last year or so with a very sick dog, and being pregnant with a high risk pregnancy, and taking care of a newborn and a sick dog. Training a puppy and taking care of a baby will be a breath of fresh air. I'm a stay at home mom by the way so the dog would barely be left home alone, and if we did leave there will still be our other dog here. Any more info you need, just ask. This is a list of breeds that have been suggested to us, obviously we are open to a mix because we want to rescue. No small dogs, done with small dogs. We would prefer a dog that is not prone to being real loud and barky as well. Dogs bark, but some dogs seem to be incessant barkers. Here are the breeds that we like that were suggested to us: German Shepherd Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Really like this one but would need landlords permission, told they are fantastic with kids) Siberian Husky Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Shiba Inu Bluetick Coonhound (though I am aware hounds can be vocal) Doberman Pinshcer (Has been recommended highly to us by several people but would have to get landlords permission) American Bulldog (Have to get landlords permission) Manchester Terrier (smaller dog but I love them) Golden Retriever (I like them, spouse isn't too crazy about them.) Weimeraner GreyHound Austrailan Cattle Dog (Hear they are good dogs, but not always good with children) Smooth Coated Collie Border Collie Great Pyrenese (love them but not to crazy about the shedding) These are just different breeds we have been told about and looked into. We know they are very different dogs with different needs. Wife prefers Terriers and Bully breeds. The short coat does best with her allergies. She has a harder time with dogs with longer coats. But she loves dogs and she has always wanted a Husky, not real practical though I guess. So a Terrier or Bully Breed or short coated dog would be most practical for her. Any suggestions? No dogs smaller than 30lbs please. ThanksAdd: Before our dog died, we were looking into getting another dog. But now we aren't so sure we are ready to bring one in. We are going to give it a few months and see how everyone adjusts and then maybe bring one in. more

Resolved Question: book plots ............again?

another one coming at ya. would you read it, is it too similiar to something? im trying to decide which one is better the first is with co-think of my friend: group of 4, their grandparents were all alchemists who died with "mysterious consequences". they're 12, on a side note. i don;t like high school aged because there are always a ton of inappropriate words. so anyway the grandparents while searching for the elixir to life, creating 4 rings that allow you to have powers. they each give powers in different categories, elemental(water, fire, air, earth), mental(mind reading, telekinises, etc.), kinetic(speed running, supere strength, etc.), and time(time travel, freeze time, teleport(because you're just speeding up time where you would travel to that place) the grandparents gave the rings to the main characters, the grandchildren in their wills. the main characters get together after hey discover the powers and decide to practice them. soon, a villain learns of the powers and kidnaps them to do his bidding. its porbably gonna be a 4 book series. we're thinking that in each book they add on to their powers because of something happening to them. start with one gentler power, then get more powerful. my second plot is the same thing except all their powers are in one category. so there's no developing more powers, hmmm, how's it gonna be a series then.......well which do you think is better? and would you read it?(i would because i love fantasy) more

Resolved Question: What sign/placements should I choose to find a loyal friend who won't make me feel like crap?

So I just realized that I'm not choosing the right type of friends. I've usually tended towards air or fire signs (including a water sign with strong fire placements). But over the years, all my air and fire friends have done things to hurt me or betray my trust. - My first best friend from H.S. was Aqua and she ended up being a habitual liar and when she got caught by some other friends about her many lies, she totally fell off the face of the earth. It wasn't her fault because I think she had some psychological issues, but I still felt bad that she didn't trust me enough to keep in touch with me, as I'm not the judging type and wasn't mad at her for it. - My next good friend was also Aqua and, although, we were not best friends I have been loyal to her for the past several years...I even traveled to Europe to attend her wedding (after she moved there). So last month she was visiting the States and I drove 6 hours to see her. When we were hanging out, she told me she is upset that she lives in Europe now because she won't be able to attend my wedding whenever I get engaged. She just flat out said she can't come even though I'm not even engaged or planning a wedding. She didn't even say she would TRY to come if I were to get married. She just said it's expensive to travel (even though I traveled to Europe for her wedding) and that I can always plan any future wedding during one of her visits to the States (really selfish of her to say that). Anyway, it took many years, but she finally showed her true colors and I'm not going to invest in her as much as I used to. - Another best friend of mine from college (who I roomed with for three years) is a Leo. She had 12 bridesmaids when she got married two years ago and didn't even pick me as one even though we were really close all throughout college and afterwards. She made up some lame excuses as to why she was obligated to choose the other 12, but I still think she was being insensitive because some of the other girls she chose were not as close to her as I was. That really killed me and, although we're still friends, I've not been able to be the same with her since then. - Another Leo girlfriend of mine borrowed $1,000 from me a few years ago and never paid me back. She totally disappeared afterwards and is now in hiding because she's too embarrassed and also doesn't want to pay me back. - And now my Cancer best friend (who has many Leo Planets and also Leo Rising) just told me that she is going to visit her boyfriend (who lives several states away from her) next week and wants to visit me on her way down. But then she said that she's only visiting me because I'm on the way to her getting some booty. She said it in a joking way, but I was still offended because I know she was kind of serious because the only other time she came down to visit me was last year when she was also on her way to visit him. I still love the girl because she's been the closest friend that Ive ever had and she's very loyal, but it's still annoying when she says insensitive stuff like that. So after much reflection and consideration, I've decided to try to foster more friendships with different types of people than I normally had been. In the past, I've not made friends with as many water/earth girls because they seem more standoffish and it's harder to get the ball rolling with them. Air and fire signs were just easier to talk to and get to know. They made me feel comfy so I could put my guard down. But now I'm realizing that they have their drawbacks in that they say/do inconsiderate things on the regular. They just don't think about what they do or say sometimes and how it will affect people around them. There are def some people who can handle them on the regular, but I just think I may be a bit too sensitive to have only air or fire friends. I still love them and appreciate them for who they are and will continue to try to be friends with them, but I also want to try to branch out and make different types of friends who are a little more sensitive to my feelings. So which sign/placement would be compatible for me? I like loyal friends who are considerate but not too difficult to get to know and who aren't too quiet/standoffish...and who are also fun-loving and carefree like me. Any suggestions? :) Orr, should I just accept that I'll never find the perfect friend who meet my standards? I'm Scorp sun/Cap moon/Libra rising and the rest of my chart is mostly Libra and a lil Sag. Thanks!lol TheFool. Read it. It's entertaining lollthanks Undisputed and Grr :)Oh, I also forgot my Gemini girlfriend who has also caused me grief (won't go into details). more

Voting Question: Do you think this is for real or is some one trying to get my money and details off me?

I went on the net to find a dog for adoption, and tryed to find a dog close to myself. I emailed a few and was sent just once reply for a certain english bulldog. This is the reply i recived. Hi and thanks for your interest in adopting this my lovely English Bulldog baby for she is still available and by name called Cindy.I am just so concerned about her welfare and hope you can assure me of that. She is barely 12 weeks old, she is home raised, potty trained and well socialized and gets along perfectly with children and other pets .She is updated on all her shots and comes with a year health guarantee. She loves to be carried around .She will come along with the following - A year health guarantee -Pedigree papers -A traveling crate -Vet record -Food samples -Puppy toys I am giving her out for adoption because of my new Job as an auditor which demands a lot of my time and entails a lot of traveling. As such, i have little or no time to spend with her.She is really in need of a home where she will be provided with all the love, care and attention. I will be out for 8 months here in Belfast and I find it difficult to find a home for Cindy. I will be preparing her for transportation within UK only as soon as am assured that you will care for her and accept her as part of your family by getting me with answers to the following questions: Where are you located.............................? do you have children................................? Do you have other pets.........................? will you send me monthly pictures Cindy to let me know how she is doing ...........? Hoping to hear from you if you think you can provide a good home for this lovely baby...i will be sending pictures on your request.I will be waiting for your mail asap. Thanks, Best regard Then this was the msg i replyed with....... Hello Thanks for getting back so quick. i live in the north east of england and i have no children at the moment but my girlfreind is due to have a little baby boy on the 28th of june. I would keep you informed always about the dog's well being and also send you pictures every month or 2weeks when you wanted them. I have a 3 bed room house with a large front and back garden and also a big field outside the house, so space isnt an issue. The dog would be well looked after and would come to a loving home, i have no pets at the moment i have experiance with dogs all my life with my parents having them. If you could please get back to me about the adoption process and what COULD happen next. You would be very welcome to come and see my home. Get back to me asap, thanks. Kind Regards Then they sent a msg back saying ...... Hi It is so wonderful to hear that your wife is going to have a baby boy soon, I know Cindy is going to have a good time with your family and baby. I am very glad to know that you will keep me with update about Cindy, I have this feeling that you are going to spoil and rotten Cindy with a lot of love and affection. So I am willing to arrange for her to be delivered to you as soon as you are ready to pick her up. The shipping and delivery for Cindy will cost 150, I am giving her out for free adoption and you will only have to pay for her airfare so get back to me with your: your first and second name-------------------------? your state-----------------------------------------? your city------------------------------------------? your house address---------------------------------? your preferable airport and i will think the closest one to you will be just the best so we can proceed with the shipping arrangement. As soon as I get the information, I will rush to the airport and arrange for her delivery so that you can pick her up tomorrow morning. best regards I then put it off a bit as a dont have 150 pound but i explained that i had 70 pound and they agreed they would pay the rest for the air cargo! Seems to good to be true for some1 to pay them selves to get there dog to fly from belfast to newcastle. i gave them my details as in contact number and address and i am waiting for a call today from the airport to arrange the flight etc.... ( as they said ) Want to know if this kind of scam happens all the time or if any1 knows anything about what has happend to them selves or friends in the past.i thort it would be a scam, even so when they offer to pay £80 for transport and i only was paying £70. So do you think some1 will call me or not? So how would these scammers get the money? more
